A Third Awakening?

Some religious leaders say America is facing a spiritually dark time.

"At the root of America's problem, we really have a spiritual cancer that's been eating away at our nation," Bishop Harry Jackson, senior pastor of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Maryland, told CBN News.

Retired Gen. Jerry Boykin used to fight America's physical enemies overseas. He's now working with the Family Research Council fighting spiritual foes.

Boykin said without a Third Great Awakening, forces like those that took down mighty empires of the past will also bring down the United States. ...

...more press for Howard-Brown.(yawn) If false teachers and prophets who claim to have the power of the Holy Spirit can't exorcise the demons oppressing/possessing them, how can they benefit anyone else? If the charismamaniacs could cast out demons, why do we have the gov officials that we have and have had? ...so much for their signs and wonders hocus pocus. Physicians, heal yourselves...

You know it is pretty bad when even a Pentecostal preacher who would be somewhat similar in doctrine to Howard-Brown, Hinn, Hagin, etc. has a problem with them and seeks to warn others. By including the link to his website, I am not promoting everything that Joseph Chambers teaches or believes, but I appreciate his exposing of these false teachers and heretics. He at least seems to have a fear of God and a desire for true holiness.

If Rodney Howard-Browne is connected with this "Third Awakening" you can be sure it will not be a true move of the Holy Spirit as experienced by Jonathan Edwards in the 1740's. For a glimpse of Howard-Browne's past shennanigans you can go to the Pensacola Brownsville Assembly of God insantity as captured in the "False Anointing" video series produced by Pentecostal pastor Joseph Chambers of Paw Creek Ministries.

I don't want to register to comment on the link so I'll comment here. One of the comments on the CBN web site stated that the Civil War was one of the results of the 2nd Great Awakening (meaning the war was a good thing). It's this type of mentality that affirms my view that that which we call America is a lost cause. The centralized tyranical government that Lincoln and his posterity created is the government that forces Christian photographers to take pictures of perverse acts such as "gay" weddings. I think we have to look to the East for hope and as far as America is concerned, only a revolution can make it a Christian nation again. [edit: To clarify, by the "East", I mean Eastern Europe and Russia where Christianity is re-emerging as the dominant culture.

Im an introvert, and I have no problem with fellowship. Johns problem is not about being shy, but an obvious disdain for fellowship. He is Antinomian in that he believes he has a free ticket to heaven, and doesnt have to obey Scripture. This is obvious by his played out excuse that such and such is not required for salvation, so he doesnt have to do it. Well, being faithful to my wife is required for salvation either, but that doesnt mean I should disobey Scripture and cheat on my wife if I feel like it (Romans 6:1-2). His insipid excuses and flippant attitude towards Scriptural commands bear him out (Matthew 7:16-23).

Im done here, there simply is no use in continuing any further.

Extroverts have always done a lousy job of accepting and not judging introverts,in all their talking and chattering, hand shaking, meeting and greeting they never seem to consider that those who are not like them have value to and are cosntsantly brow beating them, even going so far as to tell them their introverted nature is sinful and its removal is part of their conversion.

What extroverts are realy saying to introverts is,you don't prefer my company....so there must be something wrong with you....I'm so wonderful you realy should try to be more like me.

My personal favorites are the social butterflies who try to tell you they are realy shy...like saying I'm realy short,im just tall to hide it.....you are what you are.

Scripture doesn't state that fellowship is required for salvation and entering Heaven upon ones demise. So if one who is Born Again and trusts in Jesus alone for salvation doesn't engage in fellowship with individuals in church they will still enter Heaven upon their demise as they fulfilled the only requirement in scripture for salvation and entering Heaven upon ones demise which is to embrace Jesus as Savior by trusting in Him alone for salvation.

I could easily engage in verbal communication with individuals in church now that I took a Speachcraft class and am not that shy anymore but I am choosing not to. Answer this question. Are there a few individuals in your church that sit in the back of the church and don't engage in verbal communication and leave right after services end? If one who is Born Again and trusts in Jesus alone for salvation doesn't engage in fellowship and verbal communication in church they will still enter Heaven upon their demise.
Hey John, just trying to help here, I have been in several Baptist churches over the last 40 years (only 1 in the past 30) and have never ran into anyone who regularly attended the church that never spoke to anybody. Hope that helps your survey.

One of the things our Lord Jesus said would mark His disciples is their love for one another. You have talked about getting married. How much do you think your intended would believe you loved her if you never spoke to her and avoided her company? Now admittedly, you would have to change churches to find fellowship with true believers, so maybe you silence in the RCC is golden. May God grant you true faith and true friends.

I never said it was required for salvation, I was only demonstrating that fellowship is an integral part of ones Christian walk. You simply have no scriptural leg to stand on, Scripture is clear that we are to fellowship with other believers. Im as shy as it gets, and I love to fellowship with like minded believers, so your excuse doesnt cut it. I am of the opinion that one who possesses the Holy Spirit and loves Gods word would be overjoyed to fellowship with other believers and couldnt help but do so, as this love for God and his word is so strong it demands to be shared with others, or at least this is my experience. So with this in mind, your disdain for fellowship really makes me wonder.....

Chris...
I didn't state that schooling is changing me. I believe it was the Holy Spirit guiding me to take Speachcraft class and guided me during Speachcraft class to become a good orator and to not be that shy anymore. That is what my Baptist friend believes also.

GSTexas: Then everybody in your church engages in fellowship and verbal communication with individuals? There is nobody in your church that sits in the back of the church and doesn't engage in verbal communication and fellowship? Since when is fellowshipping and engaging in verbal communication in church required for salvation and entering Heaven upon ones demise?

But I still have no desire to fellowship with anybody in church.

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Philippians 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

I hope you don't mind me addressing you.
You were simply the last one to post to JY. I could as well post to others the same heartache/burden we share in part with each other for and about him

Perhaps, rather than the often needed from time to time posting to stand up for the Truth against the disinformation etc. JY brings

The best way to "answer" him and others (in all sorts of issues) is in pursing our Lord Jesus Christ, pursuing genuine Bibical Holiness and a Zealous Biblical Fear of the LORD, Seeking God for REVIVAL and AWAKENING in our own lives, families and churches

After all the child of God has wonderful PROMISE that God will pour out water on a dry and thirsty land

So let us hunger and thrist for Him, His kindgom, His glory, His manifest presence in our lives and His rigtheousness

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

I wouldn't say the bible is open to interpretation to the degree you're suggesting. This type of idea is exactly what has lead to so much comprimise with even the sodomites using their own interpreations to plead their case ( as if they even have one). The Word of God interprets its own self, John, not our feeble underatanding. Allow scripture to Interpret scripture. Let the Word of God, as a whole, speak for itself and pray for the understanding that our own human minds pridefully claim to be able to figure out with our superior intellect and personal presuppositions.

bottle rocket, it is not just me, Stevenr admits to the same and even Shane from Southern California is asking clarification questions. You quote random Bibke verses and go off on tangents that lead to nowhere. Just saying if you are trying to make a point it is being lost in the translation
