Tullian Tchividjian Blasts Sovereign Grace Ministries Handling of Sex Abuse Scandal
Tullian Tchividjian is slamming Sovereign Grace Ministries for its handling of a sex abuse scandal, while announcing this week that his participation with The Gospel Coalition will unexpectedly end on Thursday.

Tchividjian, whose brother, Boz, is the founder of Godly Response to Abuse in a Christian Environment, a group that investigates sexual abuse in churches and ministries, spoke out against TGC's actions in light of the Sovereign Grace Ministries sexual abuse scandal.

C. J. Mahaney, who founded the SGM, along with other ministry leaders, was hit with a civil lawsuit last year alleging that they conspired to "permit sexual deviants to have unfettered access to children for purposes of predation and to obstruct justice by covering up ongoing past predation." ...

Can I agree with DL, Regular, and StevenR all at the same time? Ha-ha. I think there are a lot who learn a lot as a result of the various discussions. Many news items never hear a peep, and it's these lonely threads I try to ask irrelevant questions, etc in. Others see some activity but there's only so much that can be said so why not put the space to productive (?) Use? Technically, doing either is against the rules so I guess we are all sinning (are we??), but if a newsbit has been exhausted, I view off the rabbit trail discusions as healthy, necessary, and iftoften thought provoking and mind expanding. But yes...the words Calvinism and Arminianism do get tiring. John UK said that SA, long ago, hosted a forum where one could create discussion threads but maybe it became too difficult to moderate.

Don't disagree with the general tenor of your comments regarding theological discussion. I just would be interested to have a place to see what people think about the original article rather than the same old rehashed debates between Calvinism and Arminianism, Catholicism and Protestantism, Conservatism and Liberalism, etc. that people seem to want to debate on every thread. If the article addresses those, then I am all in.

Agree and Disagree. (Lol, I'm waffling)
I like the discussion, but wish they had a separate board, so the news articles could be commented on for their own newsability...

Disagree! Intellectual discussion and debate between Christians is an excellent way of learning theology and Bible. If we were to tie down every thread to the precise article involved, first the debate would only last a few posts and second, it would limit exchange between the SermonAudio comments community who have developed over the years into a church of learning by debate and study. These threads and the news are important but very transitory, whereas the debate exchange is Biblical and enduring in the subject that is most important round here - Learning the Word, precept and doctrines of God and study and theology.
My friends of all positions here on the comments board have helped me by grace to grow in Christ. I applaud and thank them for that.
I also thank SermonAudio for this ministry and their cooperation.
I would add my amen to that, regular

For your edification:-

Heidelberg Catechism:
Q74. Should infants also be baptized?

Ans. Yes.
Infants as well as adults
are included in God’s covenant and people,1

and they, no less than adults, are promised

deliverance from sin through Christ’s blood
and the Holy Spirit who produces faith.2

Therefore, by baptism, the sign of the covenant,

they too should be incorporated into the Christian church
and distinguished from the children
of unbelievers.3

This was done in the Old Testament by circumcision,4

which was replaced in the New Testament by baptism.5

1 Gen. 17:7; Matt. 19:14
2 Isa. 44:1-3; Acts 2:38-39; 16:31
3 Acts 10:47; 1 Cor. 7:14
4 Gen. 17:9-14
5 Col. 2:11-13

God be with you.

Ahhhhh....this is my sort of lingo. Very glad that you had opportunity to witness to a Moslem today bro. And most encouraging to read. Especially about the little John's Gospels. What a wonderful thing to read! And having the deity of Christ in the very first verses.

I've got to run but before I do
I am thinking on your post
Perhaps rather than answer/interact with his post
We ought to "answer" him
Ask Him questions that have to do with genuine born again Christianity and post things that actually encourage one another in our faith, praying, witness

You can baptise as many babies as you want, and offer up to God a whole load of mumbo jumbo religious words, and make a whole load of claims regarding them. However, you cannot make them elect, nor can you make them born again, nor can you call them babies in the covenant of grace, nor can you make any spiritual claim on them. Nor can you make them church members, because "the church" is "the ecclesia" and members are admitted when God calls them with an inward and effectual call, which results in them repenting of sin and trusting in Christ, after which they may be baptised in water as a sign of an inward spiritual event.

Charles Spurgeon preached;
"I have my own private opinion that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what nowadays is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else. I do not believe we can preach the gospel, if we do not preach justification by faith, without works; nor unless we preach the sovereignty of God in His dispensation of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing, unchangeable, eternal, immutable, conquering love of Jehovah; nor do I think we can preach the gospel, unless we base it upon the special and particular redemption of His elect and chosen people which Christ wrought out upon the cross;" (CHS)

AND
"The old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach to-day, or else be false to my conscience and my God. I cannot shape the truth; I know of no such thing as paring off the rough edges of a doctrine. John Knox's gospel is my gospel. That which thundered through Scotland must thunder through England again."—C. H. Spurgeon

Let the TRUTH thunder again today. Amen to that.

Michael the reason why - to all Christians - that there is only one way is because the Bible IS the ONE way.
TULIP of course is known by 'all Christians' as the Biblical Doctrines of Grace. These emanate from the great debate at Dordrecht between real Christians - And Arminian heretics.
You really need to get a copy of the Canons of Dordt which will improve your theology no end.

You never cease to amaze John, how that by changing the Bible's teaching on the Covenant of Grace at Genesis 17 - You guys try to maintain the unbiblical tradition of the Anabaptists dunking and Arminian confession.
And because you ditch part of the Bible you call yourselves the real church? Now that isn't even logical never mind theological is it John?
BTW Jesus is the Mediator of the Covenant of Grace - He was for Abraham and continues to be so today. So John, Who is your mediator?

again you are violating the 9th commandment. You use sola Scriptura when you are Sola dordt or sola calvin, you never let Scripture get in the way of your belief system.

God resists the proud

Where did I say that?

Here is my entire post:

[Can't be, not with all those baby baptisms, covenant children, unregenerate membership.
The true church is composed of all true believers everywhere, those whom God has called out of darkness into his glorious light. And it don't bother me none what it's called, as long as it's called.

As for baptismal regeneration, well that's not a doctrine found in scripture.]

Where?
