A modern pope gets old school on the Devil

A darling of liberal Catholics and an advocate of inclusion and forgiveness, Pope Francis is hardly known for fire and brimstone.

Yet, in his words and deeds, the new pope is locked in an epic battle with the oldest enemy of God and creation: The Devil.

After his little more than a year atop the Throne of St. Peter, Francis’s teachings on Satan are already regarded as the most old school of any pope since at least Paul VI, whose papacy in the 1960s and 1970s fully embraced the notion of hellish forces plotting to deliver mankind unto damnation.

Largely under the radar, theologians and Vatican insiders say, Francis has not only dwelled far more on Satan in sermons and speeches than his recent predecessors have, but also sought to rekindle the Devil’s image as a supernatural entity with the forces of evil at his beck and call. ...

JuneAnnette,

I will add this to my library, thank you. It is such a huge, spiderweb-type of religion isn't it? It entangles, ensnares, and deceives multitudes. May God have mercy, may He draw out His people from all dead religions.

Dorcas - amen sister!

Dorcas / ladybug: a MUST READ:
The Jesuits / The Secret Army of the Papacy by: Shaun Willcock

From the Back Cover:

The New Testament abounds with warnings of wolves in sheep’s clothing: men pretending to be part of the flock of Christ, but in reality wolves disguised as sheep, ministers of Satan pretending to be ministers of righteousness, infiltrating the churches of Christ and bent on destroying them.

For centuries a ruthless, cunning, secret army has served the global conquest objectives of the Roman Papacy: the Jesuit Order. This is the most diabolical of all Roman Catholic orders; the most fanatical, the most dangerous. It stops at nothing in the relentless pursuit of its goal: to destroy all enemies of the Papacy, and to enchain the world to the feet of the pope of Rome. History is filled with evidence of Jesuit intrigue, deception, duplicity, plots, murders and attempted murders, etc. And against Protestantism, in particular, the Jesuits have always directed their energies, by infiltration of Protestant churches, posing as Protestant ministers, undermining the true faith, sowing discord and heresy, and a whole host of evil schemes. The shocking state of professing Protestant ‚ÄúChristendom‚ÄĚ today is ample testimony that they have been all too successful.

Sorry Dorcas . . when my eyes get tired/ blurred, it seems my thinking becomes fuzzy as well!
I'll have to peruse my docs on my desktop to see if I have any of J. A. Wylie's works. I have amassed quite a bit of material over the past 7 years by way of sermons / Christian apologetics, and quite possibly I have some of his writings. I'll let you know.
I really like to read and would like to read more, but
I have a chronic eye infection, which is sometimes accompanied by a headache, which somewhat impedes/impairs my ability to read as much as I'd like to.
I have to be careful not to strain my eyes.
It's good to know Wylie has audio books!
ladybug, don't ever feel like you're intruding. It's good to converse with those of like precious faith!

I don't mean to intrude, but I wanted to add Ryle's most excellent book - 'Holiness' - which I'm sure you both have read. It's available online for free at http://www.ccel.org/ccel/ryle/holiness.toc.html

Dorcas,

Not sure . . did you mean: J. C. Ryle
J. C. Ryle was a Gospel Minister, a ‚ÄúPreacher‚ÄĚ of God's Word who lived from 1816-1900.
His Sermon: Prove All Things is a must read.

Spurgeon is another one of my favs . . His sermon:
'RUBBISH' comes to mind, a word he rightly employs in describing Popery / Romanism!
Both these sermons are a word in season
to the Lord's little flock of our day.

Hi JuneAnnette...thanks for putting up all the links that you so faithfully every day.
There is no excuse for anyone to not know the truth concerning popery.
Are you familiar with J.A. Wylie? He wrote extensive books and papers on the Jesuits, and the Papacy is the Antichrist, plus the history of the Protestant reformation. His works can be found here on SA.

For the benefit of SteveR:

Romanism-Built Upon Forgeries! / By Peter J. Doeswyck, Ex-Jesuit Priest
(D.D. Patrologist, Medievalist, Church Historian) Source/ Website: Mission to Catholics / MTC.org
EXCERPT:

“The entire structure of the Roman Church is built on forgeries, spurious epistles, spurious sermons, spurious miracles, spurious relics, spurious councils, and spurious papal bulls. The Catholic Encyclopedia admits the existence of thousands of forgeries and divides the works of nearly every Father into (1) genuine, (2) dubious, and (3) spurious. Roman inventions as Peter’s martyrdom at Rome (2nd cent.), Assumption of Mary (6th cent.), Temporal power of the bishop of Rome (8th cent.), Primacy of Rome (11th cent.), Seven Sacraments (13th cent.), etc., can only be proved by forgeries. Example: Cyprian (d. 258), like his predecessor, Tertullian, ridiculed the pagan system of a Supreme Pontiff, a Pope (pater patrum, bishop of bishops), a primacy, etc."

Very well said, Michael....I'm afraid the two uninvited romanists who spue their RC twaddle here daily, will only ignore what the few faithful continue to defend...but let us not grow weary in this battle, as our dear Lord and Saviour deserves to be honored and exalted by His people, not blasphemed as He is daily on romanist altars.

RC Christians?
Yet more disinformation from our dear univited Roman Catholic Apologist

What does it profit a man or woman, if they practise a form of godliness (religion) and forfeit their soul?

The RCC didn't merely need sweeping reform of wicked practises (hmmm, like sweeping under the rug, the sexual abuse of children by its pedophile priests)
The RCC needed REPENTANCE

AND as for genuine born again believers, we do not need those who would falsely demonize the RCC and Catholic people BUT THOSE who would expose the RCC for the Blasphemous Idolatrous False Chrisitanity it is, and love Catholic people so much that we would do everything we might rightfully do in good conscience to see them saved from their sins (LIKE FERVENT PRAYER AND INTERCESSION - PLEADING WITH GOD FOR MERCY ON THEM), to know everlasting life in the Risen Son of God and deliverence from the RCC and all its bondage and priestcraft, and likewise from those who, call evil good, spreading disinformation of her too

BTW The Propaganda RCs are Christians works DEVILISHLY to rob Christians of pleading with God for their salvation

Steve, that's not true. Everything said pertaining to its doctrines, dogmas, and rituals are consistently backed up with biblical facts.
"...God has blessed the office (of the pope; bishop..."
Steve, how can you say this with sincerity? Can so many people who argue amongst themselves all day long really be so wrong when they consistently unite to come against your views on this topic? Do you really stop to consider what they preach and teach and how those things slap God's own Word in the face?
In the past 2000 years, there has been about 100 years when the RCC came close to being the harlot of Revelation. They werent then, and certainly not now. Unfortunately for Protestants since, those dark days of the RCC came at a time when so many confessions were written, and when the nobles protecting the Reformers needed to demonize the RCC as they were stealing RCC property

Fortunately for the RCC Christians, the reform of wicked practices more than made up for what their Church lost in property

It's frightening to see so many deluded by the false teachings of this dead religion. It's worse than a circus act, and yet, multitudes cleave to it. So many unbiblical practices, so much sin, greed, lies, etc. that fill this religion fueled by Satan; I thank and praise God for revealing truth to me. I know all who've truly been born again do the same.

The pope is claiming everyone has a right to be baptized; from the article below- " On baptism Francis has stressed that it should not be refused, especially to children whose parents may be breaking Church rules such as living together as an unmarried couple." So, if your parents are living together in sin and breaking 'church rules' {what about breaking God's holy word?!}, you should get baptized?

http://www.smh.com.au/world/pope-says-baptism-for-..

This really isn't shocking, it's just more man-made traditions/rules you must follow. Unfortunately, baptism doesn't save, and neither do the false teachings of the RCC.

Dorcas, to that I would add . .

The Roman Catholic ‚Äúchurch's‚ÄĚ arrogant and presumptuous claim of apostolic succession through her ‚Äúpopes‚ÄĚ is a diabolical lie.
Even the unholy Roman Catholic ‚ÄúChurch‚ÄĚ admits there is no Scriptural support for papal claims to Rome's supremacy over the church or a transmission of Peter's authority, namely ‚Äúapostolic succession‚ÄĚ, a claim they have consistently put forward and based upon an erroneous interpretation of Matt. 16:16-18 aka ‚ÄúPetrine text‚ÄĚ . . to wit:

From the Vatican website (http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/angl-comm-docs/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_1981_authority-church-ii_en.html):

(start quote) "6. The New Testament contains no explicit record of a transmission of Peter’s leadership; nor is the transmission of apostolic authority in general very clear. Furthermore, the Petrine texts were subjected to differing interpretations as early as the time of the Church Fathers. " (end quote)
*******
The truth is . . Christ is the Head of His Church . . His Bride . . and HE rules over her by His Word through His Spirit. ‚ÄúFor the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, and he is the saviour of the body.‚ÄĚ (Eph. 5:23)

The only thing I would suggest any Catholic do is look at the relationship the church has with and has had with the world, always in the places and circles of power.

The world's system and the Catholic church are one,the Catholic church is the world's church and the love of the world is expressed towards the church the majority of the time, this is contrary to everything Jesus told us about himself, his followers and how the world would treat them....just take a good look and ask yourself some hard questions.

The bible could not be any more clear when it says a friend of the world is an enemy of God,this the great dividing line.

No matter how you spin it, the pope has no authority over anyone, nor is he a successor in a long line of previous popes/bishops.
The LORD does not bless false teachings/teachers; the RCC twists the word of God, adds to it, takes from it, and exalts man's tradition above holy writ. Enough has been stated on SA over the years proving the false teachings of the RCC; the latest coming from JuneAnnette. Your defense of a dead religion is not welcome here; you prove you do not have ears to hear. You should be shunned and avoided, for you are divisive. May God have mercy on your unregenerate, lost soul.
And all of Gods children say AMEN
