It was after a GOP bundler called in to Rush Limbaugh’s talk radio show in the middle of 2013 that he warned about the then-exploding Obama administration scandal involving the Internal Revenue Service.
He said, ‚ÄúThis is to scare, to literally frighten people into not donating to Republican or conservative causes.‚ÄĚ
Now a year later, reports are confirming that’s the case, that the IRS collected donor lists from targeted tea party organizations, and a full 10 percent of those names have been audited.
That’s roughly ten times the rate for audits for all Americans.
Donors to the Tea Party are not the only ones targeted. Many of us who are members and donors of the Susan B. Anthony List (a pro-life group) were also audited the last couple of years primarily by states run by Democratic governors and legislatures. I was audited three times beginning in late 2011 by the state of NC and initially fined thousands of dollars (deducted from tax refunds plus garnishments from my pay); they eventually had to give it back plus more after I proved that my taxes were correct and was awarded additional deductions. I'm starting to think that we ought to start flying Ben Franklin's "Join or Die" flag or revolutionary Colonel Gadsden "Don't Tread On Me" as many prerevolutionary war Americans did to show this fascist governor that it is dangerous to step on the rattlesnake of liberty. But alas, many modern day Americans have been bitten (and smitten) by the Serpent and his fascist antichrist. Liberty is one of those words that has been perverted to mean lawlessness and licentiousness in the same way as "gay" meant joyful or happy and "Christian" meant believer or follower of Jesus Christ.
