Kirk Cameron: 'Fornicators and Adulterers' Biggest Threat to Marriage and the Church

Christian actor and activist Kirk Cameron has given a revealing interview about the seriousness of marriage and the threats to the institution. Cameron said that redefining marriage is not the biggest threat, as some might think, but "fornicators and adulterers" pose the most serious threat. Cameron is leading marriage seminars in Alabama this month.

"When people get too focused on redefining marriage, you're distracted from the bigger problem – fornicators and adulterers," Cameron told AL.com. "If the people sitting in the pews are fornicators and adulterers, the church will destroy marriages much more quickly than those outside the church. When God's people mock marriage, God doesn't take that lightly." ...

That's a whole new conversation to have. Consider this; if you had a child in public schools, how many of you would want a Muslim teacher leading them in a prayer to Allah? Or to the great spirit? Or even a Wiccan chant? Not letting teachers force students to follow them in prayer was a right move misunderstood and misused.
We focus on the negative; there was an opportunity for God to move, yes. But today we must also consider the negatives. You want your kids teacher to pray in school, homeschool them and get a prayer life. :-)

I think you it the nail on the head brother... Where was the church in the 60s when they let an one ungodly woman take prayer out out of schools...

If more emphasis was placed on being good husbands and wives instead of just managing to share the same address things would be different, instead we have lop sided and out of balance nonsense being preached claiming that God has given all of the responsibility for everything in life to one side and not the other.

God calls all to repentence and holiness, there are no push button A get response B scriptures like many would have us believe.

This is a subject where even the most
conservative churches are afraid to tread. Too many churches and Pastors are too busy looking pious to society, they ignore their obligations to their Creator. If gender roles arent followed properly in worship, its no surprise those roles are perverted in society
As we have all witnessed your " loving" attitude over the years as such a spiritual giant, I'm sure many of the ladies on this forum thank God that you were not their spiritual head!

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
what was it like in Noah's day?
Genesis 6:5 5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
These scriptures mean nothing to the men of programs, strategies and methods, the true Christians are doing what they are supposed to do and the pseudo Christians are not so he is actually complaining about what non christians who don't matter are doing and laying the blame at the foot of all.

You apparantly know very little about Kirk Cameron if you think he has never shared the Gospel with anyone. He has made an excellent point and when he referred to adulterers and fornicators, he was talking about those in the church. There is nothing wrong with what he said or who he said it to. Paul preached both to the lost and to those in the church.

And both SteveR and Stevenr added some excellent points about male headship, submission, divorce, & remarraige. These last two in particular account for much of the adultery and fornication among church members. How can we expect the lost to respect marraige when it is treated so lightly by professed believers and even preachers. Whatever happened to "for better or worse, till death do us part?" Remember what Jesus said regarding this about the "hardness of heart?"

Better yet, Kirk could instead of trying to discuss fornication and adultery, he could instead give the gospel and try to lead some of the lost in the church's to Christ. To be honest there are many who sit in church every week and still don't know Christ, it's sad.

I always see these videos of preachers holding up signs at college campuses refering to adulterers, fornicators, and homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of heaven but completely fail to present the saving gospel. How stupid for a professing christian to tell someone they're going to hell but never tell them how to be saved. Just plain stupid, maybe it's because they're lost them selves

Why would he feel defiled when they don't cover their heads when he knew it was going to happen before they had heads?

(6) For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

It's clear enough when time is spent thinking about this.

” By the way, the figures after 2004 haven’t changed—eight in ten cases involve homosexuality. Worldwide, the Vatican estimates that 60 percent of the cases are same-sex, 30 percent are heterosexual and 10 percent involve pedophilia.”

Mohler said this just the other day that the churches lack of doctrine in these two areas alone has enabled other sins such as same sex marriage. Later this year the SBC is hosting a marriage conference to finally nail down their divorce and remarriage doctrines.
After we re-arrange the chairs on the Titanic, we shouldn't allow queers and gays on the promenade deck. Only the Evanjellyfishes should be allowd to waltz around RE-defining marriage.

How dare the queers? OH the nerv! Only Christians should be allowed to change the bible

(SteveR doe's stand up for the Roman Catholics. And unfortunatelly, the Roman Catholism as well. Sometimes we swing too wildly at both.)
