Pro-'gay' Jars of Clay singer schooled by Christian leaders
Several highly respected Christian theologians are responding to a series of tweets by the lead singer of the popular Christian band Jars of Clay that downplayed the authority of Scripture on moral issues and suggested there was nothing wrong with same-sex marriage.
Dan Haseltine tweeted: ‚ÄúI just don‚Äôt see a negative effect to allowing gay marriage. No societal breakdown, no war on traditional marriage. ?? Anyone?‚ÄĚ
Reformation Bible College Philosophy Department Chairman R.C. Sproul Jr. said that when ‚Äúleaders in the church go down this path, you can expect many to follow.‚ÄĚ
‚ÄúA day is coming when affirming a biblical sexual ethic will give one all the social cachet of being the grand wizard of the KKK,‚ÄĚ he warned. ‚ÄúWhat we are witnessing is a mad rush by professing Christians to flee that ship. And in so doing, they are fleeing the shame of the cross.‚ÄĚ...
The spirit must speak through us in these situations. No manner of human cleverness can open the decieved persons eyes and ears. Christ must be manifest in us... They must see Christ in us, the hope and glory. Also, I might add... In each individual case, we must discern whether our Lord is leading us to witness to certain people as well.
I work with a JW, and every time I talk with him and offer to show him in Scripture the errors of JW theology, he says he doesnt want to argue. I dont want to push it, so I leave it alone. He's real easy to talk to, and doesnt get mad when I tell him what I disagree with JW, so hopefully with more time, Lord willing, I'll be able to get through to him.
I think one of the most important things to remember concerning JW, is they have a way different translation, so quoting scripture wont be enough. Youll have to demonstrate that their tranlation cant be trusted. Id point out that it is a proven fact Charles Russell could not read, or write Hebrew or Greek (as his embarrising court transcript reveals), so why should we trust anything he "translated" or taught? Not to mention his failed prophecies.
Good book to read is Walter Martin's Kindom of The Cults. He has invaluble info on cults like JW and Mormonism.

It is always good to speak to them graciously, as Mike/Florida pointed out. Causing them to doubt the integrity of the Watchtower Society may be useful. I asked one guy who has been coming on and off for over a year, why Watchtower thought it ok to get their bible from their theology, rather than the other way around. He didn't give an answer.
Example from their 2013 New World Translation Col 1:16 "because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,+ whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him+ and for him."
Ask why Watchtower added "other." (They believe Jesus was created, so they had to change the verse.) Point out that their 1984 version puts brackets around "other" admitting the word was added. Ask why Watchtower hides this now.
nicely done, Mike, I'm tempted to copy down what you have there, I would encourage everyone to not do what I did and refer to, "in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God"!
1. Remember to do all things in love. Remember who you are deling with. ( like the RCC ) you are dealing with another works based religion. Let them here about your relationship with Christ. They don't have that. Talk about your assurance when you die. They have no assurance. Ask THEM the questions! I always direct my attention to the quiet one. Ask them the questions. Usually they haven't been indoctrinated as long. ?. Where in the Bible does it say Jesus is Michael the Arch Angel...? It doesn't! Ask them to show you.. Get equipped with some of there prior prophesies that have backlashed on them. Many new converts are clueless.... Show them Deuteronomy 18:20. Ask them why they add the name Jehovah 237 times in the New Testament ? What about the New name? Go to Isaiah62:2 reference Acts11:26. You might want to check out a good website towerwatch.com. Lots of helpful ideas. But most important!! Pray, and ask God to open the blind eyes, and deaf ears. Be kind, but firm. Be loving. Let them know about His grace!
Will be praying for you. If they come back, they will have a older member, who is a little more equipped. Again. Draw it back to Christ as are only Meditator.

This fellow must have had his earphones one when such Bible verses as,
1 Timothy 1 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,---NASB
So, one can write of this Satanist and of course don't listen to or buy his music.
Sproul and others have said this well, these guys are jumping ship, not just the ship of being contrary to immorality, but the ship of Christian salvation. Its one thing to be immoral (in sin), but to lift that as a standard, as someone with such influence, Paul would not allow such as one to remain in his assembly.
There is no biblical evidence to support the signifigance of Music in our society,it is just another example of worshiping the creation more than the creator, anyone who can be led astray by Music has has issues that go far beyond Music...if melodies and rythms can send one into a frenzy of sin and apostacy there is something fundamentally wrong.
