An excerpt from John Frame’s Systematic Theology

The systematic that you may not be aware of is John Frame’s new Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Christian Belief (P&R Publishing, 2013). So far I’ve just dipped into it, and have learned something each time. It comes highly recommended by John Piper and many others who are much more discerning than I am. As Piper put it, ”Few in our day champion a vision of God as massive, magnificent, and biblical as John Frame’s. For decades, he has given himself to the church, to his students, and to meticulous thinking and the rigorous study of the Bible.” And now, he gives himself to you. We’re glad to post Frame’s first chapter here. —Marvin Olasky ...

As one of my favorite preachers would say, "Let's be clear here." I am not saying that a Christian is not obliged to obey the Law once he has believed the Gospel and become saved. One is justified by faith alone, WITHOUT the deeds of the law. Law keeping does not JUSTIFY a man.
Rom_3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Rom_3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Rom_3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Heart rendered obedience of the moral Law of God is a RESULT of believing the Gospel,(Jn. 14:15, Rom. 3:31) it is NOT the Gospel. The Law is not the Gospel and the Gospel is not the Law. They are distinct from one another though they flow out of the same Bible. And though there is a working relationship between the two, they are not one and the same. To blur the distiction between the two puts one on some pretty dangerous ground. The Bible teaches that the Law is "a schoolmaster," leading us to be justified in Christ, where we will no longer be under a "schoolmaster,"(Gal. 3:24-25)NOT that it will SUSTAIN our justification.
That's right, God's Word IS holy.

Which part of GOD's Holy Book do you think is heresy???

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Looks like GOD disagrees with you FG.

I am interested in your presentation. You take a clearly pragmatic situation, presented by a secularist (unsaved or anti christ defined by scripture) to prove the ineffectiveness of the reformed position to which you are clearly antagonistic to by saying "i agree"
Foundationally it is an unspoken rule the reformed position asks "does God have the right to speak and if so what does He say"? If that is the case and you agree, where is this position you have just presented, found in scripture where God speaks Matt 22:29-31.
I sure hope that is not a defense of divorce in this life
Mark 10:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. .. Mark 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

If you cant be trusted in earthly things, why should you be trusted in heavenly things? The wicked might look at Matt 22 and defend divorce, but the righteous know this is so because we are bethrothed to the CREATOR of the universe

Revelation 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

You are right. I am Calvinist, and JF is more a Federalist than a Calvinist. Go to The Trinity Foundation website if you want to know more about Frame and the Federalists (and John Piper for that matter.).

Systematic Theology (4 Volumes)/Two Volumes in Each Book--Lewis Sperry Chafer, while A Review of Lewis Sperry Chafer’s “Systematic Theology” is that it also gives you an overview of the history of various works of Systematic Theology. It will give you an idea what to look for if you decide to pick up a set of books that cover the topic. I'll thank SA for bringing up the topic.

I probably found an article in the sidebar as interesting as the thread that SA gave. The edge of extinction is about the sufferings of the nominal Christians. The U.S.'s mission was an object failure since it failed to protect freedom of religion in Iraq. The forgotten Christians of the East I would it have been titled the forgotten non-Muhammadans of the Middle East, but anyway, something to think about.

In fact, the systematic theologian, since he aspires to synthesize the teaching of the whole Bible, must spend more time with Scripture than anybody else" (John Frame).
Ah sounds like Dr. Frame is a good Calvinist.
If you require Biblical accuracy and sound doctrine then get a good Calvinist theologian.
I recall a secular historian explaining the lack of success Dutch Reformed had in establishing enduring Churches in the Dutch East Indies yet answer the later success of Lutherans in the same land. The secular historian concluded that Reformed theology required such a comprehensive and complete understanding of Scripture that only those firmly and entirely committed to Scripture could benefit. I agree

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"
