Stormont rejects gay marriage for third time
The Northern Ireland Assembly has rejected gay marriage by an outright majority for the third time.

MLAs voted 51 to 43 today against redefining marriage at Stormont.

Pro-traditional marriage campaigners say those pushing for a change should “take the hint”.

Skyriter,
The intent of the gospel is to convert sinners. When we are converted, there is a remarkable change that takes place. A new principle of life (life in Christ) is implanted within us, giving us both repentance and faith. Thus we who once were the “servants of sin” are become the “servants of righteousness.” (Rom. 6:17-18) In God's Word as it is found in Rom. 6, verse 1, Paul poses the question: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” Verse 2 provides the answer: “God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Even as Christ by the cross has put sin to death (Rom. 6:10) so we are likewise called to crucify / mortify the deeds of the flesh through the spirit which now indwells us. Rom. 6:6-7; 8:13; Gal. 2:20; Gal. 6:14 We are obliged to confess our sin to Christ, our Great High Priest, and in so doing, are assured of His forgiveness . . for the blood of Christ cleanseth us from ALL sin.” (1 John 1:7-9) Christ came to save His people from their sins, not leave them in them! (Matt. 1:21; John 8:34-36) This is the very essence of Christian liberty. Praise God . . this I know by experience! May God be pleased to grant you discernment. I have endeavored by God's grace "to speak the truth in love."

Someone cannot read his Bible properly.

Skyriter. What you are up against is not just Reformed Theology - It is the Bible itself. Your philosophy above suggests (A) God and Christ are insufficient.
(B) Man is born sinless - Like Jesus???
(C) That the human has a control over his being which sin does not necessarily influence.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Reformed Theology is full of error. The finished work of the cross does not give you a licence to sin. Neither does it remove obligation from the believer to forsake his sins and walk in full obedience. Works cannot atone for past sins, that is true, only the blood of Christ can do that. But works and obedient faith are absolutely required to maintain your salvation. Read the book of James, Luke 6 etc and many others. People who claim the finished work of the cross is so complete you can do what you like and forget about works, these are the ones trampling the blood of Christ, as it it is written Hebrews 10. Read the early Church Fathers, many of them taught by Paul and the Apostles themselves. You are not born in sin and you don't have a sin nature and it is your responsibility to walk worthy of your calling. Original sin is the very gnostic philosophy the early church were fighting. You corrupt yourself and put yourself in bondage by your own choice.

You will not find the word hell used in this manner in Scripture. You indeed used it as a cuss word.

Just because it is in the Bible does not mean it cannot be used as a cuss word. If you need an example reread your post where you used the place where the impenitent lost spend eternity as a cuss word (4/30/14 7:42 AM) Look at it objectively John. How can you say you used in a Biblical sense? If you take out the "as ****" part of the sentence, it still conveys the meaning you were trying to state, so you added it as a pejorative.

One problem you have as an evangelical is that you are 'anathema' according to Rome because you hold to the truth of Justification by Faith alone. Therefore we must conclude that this can only be the evil fruit of an accursed tree.
Romanism is a cult mixing works with grace-death is in the pot and now is the pot. A false gospel and those who follow are in danger of everlasting perdition. Calling them 'brothers and sisters in Christ' we are the blind leading the blind-the way to hell!
"If any one saith, that the justice [righteousness] received is not preserved and also increased before God through good works; but that the said works are merely the fruits and signs of Justification obtained, but not a cause of the increase thereof; let him be anathema." (Council of Trent).
The individual RC needs to hear the Gospel that is 'the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.'
So do many claiming to be ecumenical evangelicals!
As long as you are preaching the said to your RC friends and not leaving them duped as supposed 'brothers'-let them know why you are 'anathema' in Rome's eyes and see where the Holy Spirit then leads the supposed RC Christian. Out of Rome!

However I feel Arminianism is as flawed as Roman Catholicism, and we have many Arminians on this MB, so I felt the need to emphasize the understanding of how faith works for salvation in the Reformed tradition

GS . . My apologies to you. You are correct . . it is Steve who is arguing on behalf of Rome, all the while claiming to be Reformed?? ?
Praise the Lord indeed for bringing me out of my bondage to Rome and into the *liberty of the glorious Gospel of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." (Rom. 11:6) To GOD alone be the glory! May your day be blessed as well GS!

GS . . FURTHERMORE, this is a flat denial of the finished work of the saving redemptive work the Lord Jesus Christ wrought on behalf of His people whom He came to save (Matt. 1:21) & a repudiation of what Christ Himself so passionately declared at Calvary . . “It is finished.” (John 19:30) This is both insulting to God the Father who gave us His Son and dishonouring to Christ who was obedient even unto death on the cross that He might secure the salvation of His people! Christ did all things well and with Him the Father was well-pleased!
The false gospel of Rome denies that which lies at the very heart of the Gospel, namely, the saving merits which are to be sought and found only in Christ and in its' place has established their own criteria upon which sinners are saved!
The GOOD NEWS of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is that . .
“He is able to save to the uttermost all those that come unto God by Him.” (Heb. 7:25)
As I said . . the gospel of Rome is not the glorious gospel of free & sovereign grace of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ as set forth in God's Word, but is "another gospel" & as such, falls under the anathema of God (Gal. 1:6-9)
JuneAnnette, a sinner by birth, a Roman Catholic by tradition . . made a Christian by God's grace (Titus 3:3-7; Eph. 2:8

The RC "church" blasphemously claims . .Obedience to the Pope declared necessary for Salvation . .
and I quote: 1) "We, moreover, proclaim, declare and pronounce that it is altogether necessary to salvation for every human being to be subject to the Roman Pontiff."
Citation: 1) Source: Pope Boniface VIII, Bull Unam Sanctam, promulgated November 18, 1302
BUT GOD's WORD DECLARES:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:13)
Note: the prior verses, v. 11, 12, reveal that name to be Jesus Christ
There is no plainer text in Scripture that puts the Doctrine of Christ in such concise language. Moreover, God's Word as it is found in II John, verse 9-10 warns believers not to receive those who “abide not in the doctrine of Christ”! The censure of Christ falls upon those who “add to and take away from the Word of God . . the Scriptures” (Rev. 22:18-19) That is precisely what Rome has done in proclaiming “obedience to the Pope” as necessary for Salvation!
