A Double Canonization for Popes John XXIII and John Paul II

Pope Francis on Sunday will preside over a pomp-filled ceremony to declare Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII saints—an event that commemorates the legacies of two of the Catholic Church's most popular popes, both instrumental in shaping the current pontiff's groundbreaking reign.

The rite in St. Peter's Square on Sunday, canonizing two of the Catholic Church's most popular popes, is likely to be a history-making event, given the strong possibility that Pope Benedict XVI, who resigned last year, will also be in attendance. That would mark the first time in the church's 2,000-year history that two popes would honor the memory of two previous ones. ...

Jean from Canada, quite true. I know one thing I should have added, is this piece by John MacArthur, The Pope and the Papacy. the whole thing was a sermon by him, and apparently John is not known for short sermons. at least read the first several paragraphs, especially about purgatory. Of course I recommend the whole piece.

Do these people in the catholic religion not know that God calls every person that has received Jesus Christ as Savior a saint. Read your Bible people.. Don't go by what the church teaches, go by Gods Word .

Two more heads of the beast declared to be saints. The Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit defines a saint much differently:

1 Corinthians 1:2 KJV
[2] Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Read some (as much as I could stomach) john paul's 5th marianne dogma, sickning but much more for the way it portrays Jesus Christ as ruthless and unaproachable.

If the catholics on here want to continue to get upset at the comments made bare this to mind; many of the RCC dogmas are purposely focused at keeping you in bondage which is why we warn so much. Read it for yourself, Christ is unapproachable but mary is tender and will appeal to her Son and He will hear her! Unreal! A purposeful roadblock set up between you and the Savior!

A more appropriate ceremony for this Circus would be to shoot them out of twin cannons across the square on either side of that Egyptian obelisk. Now THAT would be a True Cannonization!

JSC, Mary has been turned into a pagan goddess, there no doubt about that, Wherever Roman Catholic Authority comes from, it isn't the Bible, The Romish Church tries to ape the Jeweish priesthood, The Inadequacy of the Levitical [and Roman Catholic] Priesthood, and of course they have no biblical support for that.

It's interesting the quickness that His Unholiness JPII was made a "Saint" Canonising Pope John Paul II with blood on his hands was ridiculous even before the child abuse scandal, Secrets of the Vatican (video). He was most assuredly one of Satan's saints.

A timely invitation from Richard Bennett to watch his video entitled 'The Biblical Uncovering of the Pope and the Papacy . . .
Dear Friend,
More than 21,700 have shown an interest in this DVD. Why are people so curious? The reason is that none but the Lord God could have so precisely described beforehand the office of the Pope and Papacy. Man could never have anticipated the Papacy; only God foretells it. That a power claiming to act for God, to be “as God,” in the midst of the Christian Church, flouting His truth and mocking His own Holiness, defies imagination. Yes, a sacramental system and false pretenses have ruled the world for ages from the very same seven-hilled city where the pagan Roman Empire once ruled by military force. Nonetheless we trust the Lord of Grace to save many precious Catholics from this system.

Thank you, Richard Bennett

This spectacle brings to mind the account of Paul's visit to Athens where he saw the city wholly given over to idolatry & superstition. (Acts 17:6)

“Many of the Catholic Church’s elite cardinals from all over the world— known as the princes of the church—will be in attendance, dressed in their formal flowing gown-like cassocks and seated in gilded golden chairs carefully lined up in St. Peter’s square for the big event. They, along with more than 60 high level delegations, including 19 heads of state and 24 heads of government, will pay homage to relics—a sliver of skin sliced from John XXIII when he was exhumed in 2000, and a vial of blood from John Paul II taken when he died in 2005, which will be prominently displayed at the ceremony to represent the saints in waiting.”
Thanks be to God I have been delivered from the idols of Rome that I might serve the living and true God. “but by the grace of God, I am what I am” . . . a Christian. (1 Cor. 15:10)

It cannot be denied just how closely the catholic church mirrors egyptian idolatry. These men are set up as gods! I believe this is the exact reason God used the death of the first born in egypt to deliver Israel. A direct blow that God used to make the statement "i am God and there is NO OTHER!"

Two more saints to pray to, unfortunately. I have heard it said many times that the church of Rome must be the one true church because if its enormous wealth. The glitz, glamour, and pomp are what attract so many, not to mention the mysterious Marian apparitions which are ever present around the globe. The church of Rome, and its authority, hinges on Christ's statement to Peter , "upon this rock..., keys to Heaven...", and an unbroken succession. Without the unbroken apostolic succession from Peter, the church and the authority it claims is null and void. The Isadorian decretals, along with the donation of Constantine, and the church filling in 500 years of popes to fill the gap have all been proven false, over and over. Even Catholic historians concede that the documents which made the church what it is today were forgeries. Anyway, if the churches authority is based upon these documents and apostolic succession, which it is, then the churches age old claim is false and no pope was ever a vicar of Christ, head of any universal, one true church, or appointed by God Himself to lead His sheep.
