Southern Baptist Summit: ‘Stop Spreading Falsehoods

More than 200 pastors are attending the Ethics Religious Liberty Commission Leadership Summit, which will address the “gospel and human sexuality to equip pastors and church leaders to speak to these critical issues in their own congregations,” according to a description on the Southern Baptist Convention website.

Those on the panel told pastors to “stop spreading falsehoods,” and to consider becoming friends with gay people regardless of whether Christians believe their sexuality aligns with the Bible, according to Nashville Public Radio.

“We’ve run off at the mouth, said things we shouldn’t have said. We’ve run around like a peacock all over the platform,” said Pastor Greg Belser of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, Miss. “We have said things because we were playing to the home team, and they all liked our act. On this issue, nobody likes our act, except the redneck factor.” ...

John MacArthur isn't so poetic The Call to Lead the Church: Elders (Part 1)

1 Timothy 3:1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.

2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive,

5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?

6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

Now the Bible verses came before 2014, and this is much later - - 2000 AD, Ten Rules to Revival or Ruination? -- “How to Develop a Cult Mentality in Your Congregation” but it is fresh to me because I just saw it a couple weeks ago. It is extremely good advice even now.

There's a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed

Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I've forgotten --
If I ever read it.

Well, what would be on track for this thread? Taking this quote from the article:
Billy Hallowell wrote:
The summit is also examining pastoral issues, encouraging faith leaders to take steps to keep themselves on track and pure when it comes to sexuality. Among the suggestions: put a glass door on the office so that others can see what is happening inside.

As for lunches and meetings with the opposite sex, Pastor Kie Bowman of Hyde Park Baptist in Austin, Texas, recommended not having these meetings one-on-one and, instead, doing so in a group setting toavoid any sexual impropriety.

So, see, (Should Fallen Pastors Be Restored?), Why Adulterous Pastors Should Not Be Restored and of course who wants a fool for a pastor! Wise Men Live Out God's Wisdom

Not quite sure how this thread got redirected onto American Zionism, q.v., Christian Zionists: The Real Terrorists a good article to read, since it's mainly about Americans, but this article which I don't see that I mentioned on this thread, and perhaps only one other besides?
Dr. Thomas Ice wrote:
Benjamin Netanyahu in his book, A Place Among The nations: Israel and the World, recognizes American William Eugene Blackstone (1841-1935) as one of the most outstanding examples of a Christian Zionist....

It is not surprising to learn that a "1918 Zionist Conference in Philadelphia acclaimed Blackstone a 'Father of Zionism,' and in 1956, on the seventy-fifth anniversary of Blackstone's memorial to President Harrison, the citizens of the state of Israel dedicated a forest in his honor...."

William Blackstone is an inspiration and model for Christians today of one who strongly supports Israel while at the same time attempting to win Jewish people to Christ. Maranatha!

Here's an eye-opener for sure. It is right on the mark: Against Our Better Judgment: The Hidden History of How the U.S. Was Used to Create Israel." It is a Wittenberg Door expose and brilliantly exigeted. Find it at

Political causes use law to carry out a gospel mission.

I suspect I’ll get the greatest pushback on this point.

When I look back over the running, rear guard action in the church/culture engagement, I can’t help but notice something that doomed the Moral Majority enterprise from the start. It was an effort to make a godly nation of godly people by electing people who would pass and enforce the right laws.

Christian political activists, be they of the liberal (“social justice,” “economic justice,” “food justice,” “internet access justice”) or conservative (“founding principles,” “strict constructionism,” “rule of law”) share alike in one deadly fault: they would use the force of law to create a just society populated by a moral people.

This is a fool’s errand.

Law cannot make people or nations good. Only grace can do this.

Interim Pastors are in the business of returning churches to the ministry of grace in a world in dreadful need.

Ten warning signs of a potentially unsafe group/leader, also well worth looking over. It is in outline form, so it will be quick to look at. The title to this one is somewhat self-explanatory, (Ten Rules to Revival or Ruination? -- “How to Develop a Cult Mentality in Your Congregation”). Also a warning about Christian Cults-- quite good.

Dr. Dan Wallace made a very good case for (Who Should Run the Church? A Case for the Plurality of Elders)

I would suppose almost all IFB churches are leader-centric to some degree. I'm not in the congregational camp, myself, but when the leaders step over the line and become cultic--that is the time to rethink your church membership. So, read the above and decide, if your church leadership has turned into arrogant one.

How's that, Penny?

Many of Gods elect are leaving these apostate "churches" and worshiping at home, while praying for the Lord to raise up preachers that will in Holy Ghost boldness not be afraid to proclaim the Gospel of JesusChrist. SBC has for the most part gone the humanistic, social, "gospel" route which is no gospel at all. Theyare also very ecumenical, joining hands with popery and Mormonism , calling them Christians.

Thnak you, Penny.

1 Tim 1:5-6
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to IDLE TALK, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.

1 Tim 1:15
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

1 Tim 2:1-4
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

IMHO as a consideration, perhaps we ought to humbly gather together, or go into our prayer closets, to talk to God about all this, and mournfully pour out our hearts for the lost, and even the religious elites who seems so ignorant of Holy God.

"becoming friends with gay people regardless of whether Christians believe their sexuality aligns with the Bible"

There is NO absolutely NO diversification of sexuality in Scripture. There is "natural" and "Unnatural."
Romans 1: 26 "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:"

Therefore this "panel" of Baptists are unbiblical and reprobate.

Homosexual behaviour is sin.
Homosexual behaviour is abomination.

Lev 20:13 "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

Get back to the Bible or stop calling yourselves Christian.
