Legal complaint filed in Vision Forum case
Beyond the messiness for the families and the local church involved, the case also has implications for the broader church, and it’s likely to draw attention from those outside the church as it gains traction. Without a careful understanding of Christian teaching, a tragic situation could bring derision on Christianity more broadly.

It’s certainly happened in other cases. Media outlets lampooned Christians in the 1980s during coverage of the scandal surrounding Jim Bakker at PTL Ministries in Charlotte, N.C. Other scandals have followed, and have ensnared ministry leaders across the theological spectrum.

In this case, the Torres-Manteufel complaint singles out the patriarchy movement that Phillips ascribed to in his teaching and ministry, and contends this system suppressed Torres-Manteufel from speaking out against Phillips. It also notes a thread of the teaching that discourages women from ...

Perhaps she wants her pound of flesh after Phillips was outed & she was humiliated. The likely media circus will probably suffice for this.
“Maximum personal satisfaction as measured in U.S. Dollars” – Dave Barry

But I would think his wife would have moral grounds to sue instead; imagine what she & the kids are going through. Two problems, however:
1) Many Christians forbid divorce, so she may get shunned by zealous friends;
2) No-Fault Divorce can work in the adulterous husband's favor: We know of one where the wife owed alimony despite the [jobless] husband having an affair!

So either way, she gets the short end. America, what a country!

Since the plaintiff was in her majority, I don't think her 9-count legal complaint will go far in court, unless the jury is composed of feminists or Fundies eager to nail a Calvinist.

Doug Phillips glorified the Old South, where slave girls were often “seduced” by their patriarchal masters.

Did the lady cry out? No. The article stated she was 21. She consented. It takes two to tango. Both parties are at fault.

Mr Phillips was seen by dozens, many of whom had cell phones, going into and coming out of her bedroom alone for 5 years? All one had to do was dial 911. No one ever did. Light never shone on these unspeakable sins. Now they're all over the news. Shameful mess.

Another cult bites the dust.

Now if only we could get rid of the other religions which do not receive and act upon the truth.

you are getting lampooned because you are a bunch of hypocritical sexual abusers and the ones who aren't abusing just sing a little louder ... God will soon come and deal with you thief, rapists and murderers
you think God is not a part of making the world punish you? The evil will be punished the good will be refined with tribulation, if you are not being smacked with in your face insults because of your sins, you are being vomited out because of lukewarmness ...
