Clemson football accused of pushing Christianity

The leader of an organization that monitors separation of church and state said Tuesday that Clemson University head football coach Dabo Swinney and his staff have leavened their athletic program with so much Christian indoctrination that the administration needs to step in and say ‚Äúhands off the consciences of these kids.‚ÄĚ

But Clemson University said Tuesday it supports Swinney and his program and has found no improprieties.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has sent a letter of complaint to Clemson University, urging the Upstate school to cease the athletics department’s emphasis on prayers, Bible studies and other religious activities, including busing players to local churches for Sunday services. ...

Thanks Shane...that's pretty much what I figured. Lurker, I haven't forgotten about you...you are on my mind every day, actually. I have some energy first thing in the AM but it tanks pretty quickly so setting my mind to anything is tough. I'll get back to you soon because I do want to relate that experience.

I read this news outlet daily. I lean toward a Soverign Grace standpoint...I don't classify it as "Calvanist" because those labels are confusing and distracting. Either way though, anybody who names the name of Christ as their God, shouldn't carry on in such a manner that Love between believers is lost. Besides, when you get down to it, both views on Soverignty do a poor job of explaining where man's volition and God's Soverignty meet; even touch, but never violate each other. I think we need to temper our argument.

Hey IkeMike,

Kinda with Lurker here, not trying to be in any way disrespectful, and your point is? You surely don't believe in universal salvation that everybody is saved. So, if not everyone is saved then there of necessity is a limit.

Why does Calvin keep following us around in every thread?

Christopher... Frank is doing well last time I spoke with him. There are issues with certain things here that has made him want to take a break.

All that is covered here, known only to the Father and the Son until the last day.....

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Now sure what your point is. Perhaps you could expound.

Mik help,
It never states anywhere in those verses you spouted off WHO the father gave to Jesus, nor how many.
Sure they do; all who will be raised to eternal life on the last day.

An assurance founded on anything other (i.e. your decision) than what Jesus did for all the Father gave Him.... its a false assurance.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1 John 3:21-24)

God forbid we make a idol out of John Calvin and accredit him with the clear teachings found in holy writ that can only be attributed to the one true and living Jehovah. Don't forget to buy your copy of the Institutes this will help you receive a clearer message, Mike.

Some edifying reading for you;
Quote
Was Jesus a Calvinist.
"On several occasions in John's Gospel divine election is described in terms of God the Father giving certain persons to God the Son (6:37, 39; 10:29; 17:1-2,6,9,24). In each of these cases the giving of men to Christ precedes and is the cause of their receiving eternal life. Those who are given to the Son include not only the present company of disciples who believe in Jesus but also the elect of future ages who will come to faith through the gospel."

Response from the Freedom from religion foundation and the general public:
You should not have included the Episcopalians in that list as the Episcopal Church has the Bible as their holy book. How come the Freedom from Religion Foundation doesn't complain about the Muslims and the other Non Christians on the Clemson University football team pushing their respective religions at Clemson University?

Who cares that atheists are against Clemson University Football pushing Christianity? Atheists are mentally deranged and psychotic anyway for trying to push their insanity on the public.
