Michael Bloomberg: 'I Have Earned My Place in Heaven'

Former New York City mayor is pledging to spend $50 million this year to push gun control, the New York Times reports. For this and other deeds (such as taking on obesity and smoking), Bloomberg believes he's going to heaven.

“I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close,” Bloomberg told the Times.

Here's the full context of Bloomberg's heaven quotation:

If you gentlemen were talking about Mr Bloomberg, if my memory serves, he's Jewish so he is out of the pale of Christianity. Back on topic, more or less, Nebraska & Kansas among 21 states joining in suit to overturn gun control law .

Don't forget the free will of the mentally retarded or those in a vegetative state. The Arminian position, unless it is willing to concede that this group of people get a free pass which would make them some sort of 'elect', would have to accept that they too have the full capacity to respond. Even babies too.
Possible I suppose.

Armins say that we are not robots. God does not force anyone. Man is free to make a decision.
I can never understand how then some Armins believe in perseverance. At least those who believe in losing your salvation are consistent to maintain their freedom to choose. Armins who say they cannot lose their salvation are half baked. Is mans will the guarantor that it will never fail God again? Nope!
Armins rely on Calvinism to bail them out here. God so worketh that man is irresistible drawn to him, removing the 'choice' to fail --something for which they opposed Calvinism for.
Ultimately, all Armins are good Calvinists when they get to heaven, Robots forced against their will. There wil be NO FREE WILL CHOICE to fail again.

In heaven, Arminianism will NOT WORK!!!

There are mysteries indeed, for we have an infinite God.

But what you've bought into is man made. Free will, by definition, must allow man the sole and sovereign right to a decision.

There is no mysterious reconciling here.

The doctrine or theology of free will bothers people because it leaves them without excuse,it clashes with victim theology as well....victim theology is dominant theology of today and it will accept no dissent.

The doctrine of election comes from the scripture where God simply tells us that he in fact is God and knows all things from beginning to end, apart from the free will of man how much sense does it make for the gospel to be preached to all,and for it to find fertile as well infertile soil in which to grow and produce a harvest or not.....God is God and we will never figure him out.

You sound like a RC? Are they not ant-Calvinism (doctrines of free and sovereign grace); anti -penal substitution; and hate Luther's scriptural view of free will?

Well goodness me look at this Satan is posting onto these threads using the moniker "Skyriter"

Anyone even with just common sense knows that these doctrines are in the Bible.

Poor Skyriter must have demons within her heart and head.

Many are going to learn with a shock that the theology they hold to is all bogus. Never forget there are devils all over the Internet posing as Christians with great talk, but it's all lies and fallacy. Anyone actually dares speak the truth and the attacks are vicious.

Predestination/election is false doctrine. Original Sin is false doctrine. Penal Substitution is false doctrine. The free will of man was taught universally by the Church until heretics like Augustine, Calvin and Luther came along.

Don't worry the elect know what they are doing they are guided by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals the Bible truth to the elect and they follow that guidance. Faith is the gift of God and is not wasted by the elect. Prayer is a grace of God and the Holy Spirit prays with the elect.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

So the "mind set" of the elect would not choose to anger the Lord.

Election, foreknowledge, predestination are attributes of God's eternal grace for His elect. They are not the incongruous irrelevant thoughts of sinner man. As God states
Ro 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: .....

Seems to me that the theology of election, foreknowledge, etc, sometimes leads people down the "what's the point of prayer path". I think the mindset sometimes becomes, why bother, God already knows who is who and sorted everything out from the foundation of the world. While God knows who is of the elect and who isn't from before time began, I don't believe he drew straws to determine the fate of each man, woman, and child. I believe prayer for the lost plays an enormous role. I don't claim to have the foggiest idea of how it all works, but I do feel that we will be held accountable for, among other things, lacking in prayer for those who don't know Christ through ignorance or willful rejection.

Proverbs 14:12 KJV
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

So what do we do in such a case? Just let him carry on in his deception? Say to ourselves, "Well, I have to work out my own salvation, no time for anyone else, let him die and go to hell but when I die I shall go to heaven, and the sooner the better."

Strat, do you need prayer? Are you suffering so much? There are many brethren here who will pray for you if you ask. Many are already praying for you without being asked. This is Christianity in action, seeking the Lord.

How did Paul argue, dispute and persuade ? like some of the used car salesmen in today's pulpits,he said himself he used simple language without cunning and deceit.
As far as Pauls statement about being damned to save his kinsmen I freely admit that I am not there and doubt you are either....but I learned a long time ago to never compete with anyone determined to out holy you....you win.
I will conclude that every trick in the book is being used today to attract and compel people with less than desirable results in regard to true salvation and change in people's lives.
How does concern for souls and seeking to argue, persuade, convince etc turn into cunning and deceit?

Just because we have easy believism, it does not mean that we have to follow them. There is a biblical pattern we can safely follow and certainly what I see is the apostle pressed inwardly for conversions. Try reading Spurgeons Lectures to my students (the whole book is an absolute gem) and particularly the chapter on 'conversion our aim'. Your thick skinned response does not surprise me, but please don't presume on where I am in relation to Paul's statement that he could wish himself accursed etc. You have no idea how I agonise in prayer etc for souls.

The bible says to work out YOUR salvation with fear and trembling, not the salvation of others with endless dabating,i am not commanded to sweat or obsess over the salvation of Bloomberg or anyone else.
When did Christianity become about debating who is saved and who isn't...we'll all find out in the end.
Strat,
Are you referring to me? Is there something amiss in my witnessing? I am always willing to learn, you know. Let me tell you the scenario, and then you can tell me how to go about helping this individual.

Moniker Man thinks that salvation floats down from heaven, such that suddenly he gets a goosebump, and declares, "Oooh, I think I've been saved."

Or Moniker Man was baptised as a baby, thus he thinks that on account of that, he is now in the covenant of grace, because his baptism is a sign and seal of his ingrafting into Christ, of regeneration, and all the blessings of salvation.

But Moniker Man does not accept that he has to believe in Christ to be justified. He does not imagine repentance to be a correct response to the gospel. He rather wants to do nothing, so that God is glorified better.

I am not "debating". I am preaching the gospel. I am preaching Christ crucified. I want folks to be saved.
