‘Building the Machine’: The New Common Core Documentary
The nonprofit Home School Legal Defense Association is out with a short documentary about the development of the Common Core educational standards.

The nearly 40-minute “Building the Machine” traces the history of Common Core, particularly the secrecy in which the standards were developed. Forty-four states, as well as the District of Columbia, have adopted the Common Core State Standards Initiative that advocates say prepares students for achievement in life, and that detractors say amounts to a national curriculum because of the federal grants tied to its adoption. ...

Hello,

This is just another glaring example of our times.

Let this be a WARNING and a CALL to all who truly. Pursue/Follow Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

WARNING: this is a result of a weak and ineffectual church. I/We have spent to much time on our selfs and not enough time with Christ and the Father on our knees. Thus the current downward spiral were in!

CALL: Let's humble ourselves before our God and Savior,
REPENT, REPENT, REPENT every one of us!
Cry out to God for Holy REVIVAL!

Is the life were living, worth Christ dieing for?

Yes, Pemny, it should have been a completely different messenger, they should have given the video to someone else to push and not involved homeschoolers in it. Many homeschoolers no doubt love CC as a free study guide, which they can adopt nearly all, some, and yes--none of it. I don't know if I love the U. of Iowa, but they pushed standardization before the early '70's. UPS, in other messages I pointed out even many liberals didn't like heavy hand of the Feds in this?

Jim, sounds to me like you are just annoyed with the messenger. well, here's another messenger, a kindergarten teacher who has been threatened and who's students are deeply frustrated....

(and notice those who stand to make their millions -- that's the corporatism angle on this, there always is one, the inept make their money selling nothing)

this is an excellent article!

1) Even state universities who at times want to give the appearance they care about education, were getting tired of having remedial classes to even get students up to speed to go to college.
2)One of the biggest benefactors from Common Core are homeschoolers. They have some well thought out guidelines, and of course, they can pick and choose what they want to use out of CC. The best of both worlds.

1) This due to public school standards set by the States. Surely the feds can do better, right Jim?

2) I refuse to believe you are nigh-eve enough to believe that.

Well bless his heart, here we have a program that Jim absolutely loves and can't wait for its implementation that, according to him, was thought up and started by the Republicans. Who would have thought that would ever happen. You are making progress after all, Jim.

Fine, Penny, but this isn't the organization that should be doing it! Even some liberals don't like the way the government is doing things. I hope this film told you it was a Republican idea, trickle down education. Common standards was being pushed by universities before the 1970's, there's no secret about that either. Even state universities who at times want to give the appearance they care about education, were getting tired of having remedial classes to even get students up to speed to go to college.

One of the biggest benefactors from Common Core are homeschoolers. They have some well thought out guidelines, and of course, they can pick and choose what they want to use out of CC. The best of both worlds. You should read the second URL I put up. Anyway, this outfit falls into this category.

If you're a KJV fan try II Kings 14:10 So, no matter how good or bad this video is, it is bad for homeschooling

I actually watched the movie. and thought it was well done. appreciated the interviews with the experts in English and math who's attendance was scrubbed from the record. non disclosure agreements.... now that really builds confidence for the millions affected by such decisions. hmm, I remember that education was supposed to be carried out by the states. who decided to change it all around? conveniently when local communities are struggling financially, are they getting the great $$$? not nice to move in when people aren't at their prime. that invokes "confidence" as well???

Jamie a better article than the 1st one I referenced.

This ties directly into Religious liberty Jim. If we don't safeguard our liberties we will lose them. Do you really want whole generations of relativist mush heads running our vouchsafed institutions?
