Kenya legalises polygamy without wife's consent

Kenya's parliament has passed a bill allowing men to marry as many women as they want, prompting a furious backlash from female lawmakers who stormed out, reports said Friday.

The bill, which amended existing marriage legislation, was passed late on Thursday to formalise customary law about marrying more than one person.

The proposed bill had initially given a wife the right to veto the husband's choice, but male members of parliament overcame party divisions to push through a text that dropped this clause. ...

The model of marriage from the beginning of the creation of mankind was one man and one woman, yet many men written of in The Old Testament practiced polygamy. On-the-other-hand, when Sarah asked Abraham to send Hagar his second wife away, God asked him to adhere to her request:

"The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, 'Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,' And said, 'For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?'"

Matthew 19:3-5 KJV

"And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called."

~ Genesis 21:12 KJV

No, they are not consciously doing it, but ask yourself this: Is praying to anyone but God any different than praying to any one of the false gods mankind has dreamed up? Who is really hearing all those petitions and pleas when Mary appears around the world, communicates through sensitives, etc, as a result, and consistently tells everyone to seek her immaculate heart while pleading for the worlds religions to unite in peace? Now, I know there are many hoaxes but I believe that Satan is the author of the unexplained occurances that have been witnessed by so many.
So, is praying to Mary and saints really so innocent?

I suggest you consult a dictionary for the proper definition of "medium" and "mediator" while you are at it.

Thanks Lurker...that was helpful. At least it bothers me, I guess. I oftenI wonder how some can be so consistently nasty all the while, as you said, seemingly feel like they are doing/saying God's will.

As some have pointed out this is just another step to get Kenya to adopt Shari'a Law, Top Ten Reasons Why Sharia Law Is Bad For All Societies, and more specifically about Islam and polygamy, Answering Islam Email Dialogs--Polygamy. This makes for an interesting read.

We all have our struggles and seeking vengence is one of mine which is no good thing. Usually I control myself pretty well but it gets the best of me at times.
Hey Chris,

You lose your tempter when provoked and strike back. It's a typical weakness we have all dealt with and continue to deal with. Afterwards you feel guilty and apologize which shows you're a work in progress in the hand's of God.

Others strike out by launching a condemning verse from God's holy word and feel they are serving God, never feeling any remorse for offending one of God's heritage.

Better to know you're a work in progress than to have the delusion that you've arrived at perfection.

SteveR said : In your definition praying to the living Mary is idolatry. Im not going there sorry.

Jesus Christ went there! And his word is clear. As Defined by God in his Word. Jesus said it himself in Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written,
“‘You shall worship the Lord your God,and him only shall you serve.’”

I understand not knowing the Bible and praying to Mary. That is error by false teaching...We both agree here I believe.

I do not understand, with an open Bible,
how anyone comes to any conclusion that supports prayer to Mary for anything?

Praying to Mary with the knowledge that God wants you to only pray to him through The Lord Jesus Christ by way of the Holy Spirit....is sin.

Trinity is indeed True. Not the topic though.
1.You pray to Mary and it goes to where.....
God counts this as sin. Idolatry. God does not in fact will not hear your prayer. You have not worshipped God as he has commanded.
2.You pray to God through the Lord Jesus Christ by way of the Holy Spirit.
God hears your prayer.
You have worshipped God as he has commanded.
I just wanted to make sure you understood the Godhead before I stopped replying to you. In your definition praying to the living Mary is idolatry, Im not going there sorry. I think the LORD has had people so desperate and knew the so called Christians around them werent Christian, they asked Mary instead to pray for them.

I understand that

As a Christian in the Reformed Faith surrounded by the most beautiful Elect sharing their Love and Faith with me, I by the LORDs blessings do not have to endure that thorn. However, I am merciful to those that do.

Nice talking to you James

You and I can talk(pray)to the Father only through the blood of Jesus. That sacrifice had to happen. And God did that for us!
We can trust the words of men....

You know Jesus IS fully GOD, right? You know that the HOLY GHOST indwells HIS special people, right?

You have been commanded not to have a Christmas Tree, are all Christians that have had one suffer eternal perdition?

Jeremiah 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. Jeremiah 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Jeremiah 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Jeremiah 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

SteveR said: "We know even lost Saul could contact Samuel after his death(at least many commentators think it is Saul)"

2 Timothy 3:16 ...for reproof, for instruction in righteousness.

1 Samuel 28 teaches many topics and we are to learn from them. Lets focus on the topic of talking to the dead.

verse 3 Saul had put out the mediums. Saul knew the truth.
verse 5 He is afraid.
verse 6 The Lord does not answer.
verse 7 Saul will not wait on the Lord, instead places his trust in Samuel(a dead prophet)
Lev. 19:31,20:6, Deut.18:10-12, and 1 Samuel 15:23
God commands us not to talk to the dead. Not Samuel, Not Mary.
Saul has done what he thought best...not what God had commanded. PROBLEM!
That is Sin to God....doesn't matter what any other man says. His law. His judgment.

1 Samuel 28:18 Because thou obeyedest not the voice of the Lord....
Here is a lesson. Obey the voice of the Lord.
You declared Saul lost so you see his ways are folly. We are to not follow Saul. If we pray to Mary, we are.
Now I know Samuel is dead to me, but not to the Lord as I know Mary is dead to me but not to the Lord.

We have one mediator, our Lord Jesus Christ.
