Michael Card: 'Bible literacy is at an all time low'

CT: Are there any differences between touring in the US and here in the UK?

MC: I've been coming here for about 25 years and they aren't radically different. There's probably a bit more literacy in general, I don't think there's a higher Biblical literacy in your country unfortunately. Biblical literacy is at an all time low. But I've enjoyed coming here and more than half of the concerts I've played here are places I've been before with promoters I've worked for years and years. It's a bit like coming home actually. ...

Michael Card is one to talk.
Going to Salt Lake City, with Ravi Zacharias to lead join worship with Mormons Mormons along with his "One Faith Concert" with Roman Catholic John Michael Talbot IMHO disqualifies him to teach others regarding Bible literacy or for that matter even be in Ministry in any Bible Believing Church not matter what Bible translation he might use, even if he used the KJV
Thank you for posting about Card. You saved me the trouble of doing the same as I have read the same things about him.

Michael,
Thanks for the info on Michael Card, Ive never heard of the guy. Now I know to avoid him. It is not my belief that only true Christians use the KJV, so I hope you didnt take my comment that way. No doubt, there are many heretics that use the KJV, and not just new versions.

Thanks for posting back.
I didn't think you were a KJV Onlyist.

I guess I am both thankful to God that He has allowed me to learn of some who are selling out Christ for the acceptance of the world and grieved that it is so needed to warn others of what they have done.

Something we so need the wisdom of God in.

DB?! Unfortunately there could have been readable English Bibles in the 19th Century, shame on those who keep even translations that was much freer of errors than earlier ones, but still used bombastic Elizabethan English.

Now my church gives a free copy of the NASB to all new comers. This way they have a highly accurate translation in modern English, so they can follow my pastor's sermons. But better late then never to finally have accurate readable versions of the Bible in people's hands. When Bible readers understand The Preservation of Scripture, they can appreciate the history of the English Bible, and not make a fetish out of any one version.

Distribution can never be too successful. Would to God there were more Bibles given away free. The problem is not with the Word of God, it is with the culture that is receiving it. Years ago the ground the Word was being sown on was largely good ground, now it is stoney ground. But we still have to sow it regardless.

Probably because its distribution has been too successful. Most always carry it in hand. In fact, they now have every translation ever written at the push of a button. No better way to destroy something precious than to duplicate and give many copies of it to everyone for free.
