Pastor dies during "confession"

A congregation loudly confronted its longtime pastor about his alleged infidelity -- and in the midst of their yelling, the pastor dropped dead.

That's what happened Sunday at the Miracle Faith World Outreach Church, according to members of the congregation and police sources.

Bishop Bobby Davis, pastor of the Harriet Street church since its founding in 1967, was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.

"After the service on Sunday the bishop's family asked us to remain in the church and the bishop confessed to us something that happened long ago," said Judy Stovall, an elder at the church. "He wanted to come clean with all of us. He wanted to ask our forgiveness." ...

By the way, I would never venture out to say who is saved and who isn't. I think it's interesting how in some threads there are people judging and condemning others while they seem to be far from examples themselves. What it boils down to is that only God knows what's in the heart, and that will determine out fate. I think there is a whole lot of gray area that some use to condemn, but the fact of the matter is that we really don't always know who's who for certain by outward appearances. Remember the masses of people at the great white throne judgement who cry out to God saying but we did this, we did that, we believed this, etc, and God say, "I never knew you...? This is what keeps me in check, John, and on the path to always making certain I'm right, living according to His Word to my best, and doing things because I want to; because I love Him, not because it's expected, out of necessity. I also make sure what I believe or don't believe never hinges on what anyone has told me.

John Yurich Wrote:...Prior to embracing Jesus as Savior I didn't know that there are some unscriptural Catholic doctrines and some unscriptural parts to the Mass. I also listen to Christian FM radio music and the Evangelical Protestant worship services on that Christian FM radio station.

That's good. You're a work in progress, I hope. I know you lean heavily on Luther even though he carried some false doctrines with him, and your brother, but can so many here, in consistent unison, really be so wrong all the time? All anyone asks is that you pray in earnest and often that Christ will reveal to you that which may now be hidden or not being comprehended fully. People do care which is why they repeatedly reach out.

Btw, if David was forgiven for his sin of adultry then this man was also if he confessed and asked God to forgive him. Since it happened years ago and it was still on his conscience that he had to confess to his people aso. Be warned because there are heart attacks that happen suddenly and without warning. A man in my Sunday Class had no sign of heart disease, went fishing all day with his son, came home and went across to his neighbors house to do a favor for someone who couldn't mow their yard. While he was mowing, he dropped dead of a heart attack.

What happened to the good news of the gospel being so simple even a child can understand it?! Now, I'm hearing all the debating on things that Paul never talked aout at all, as a matter of fact he got so angry at the Judizers for addind circumsion and all their many other rules to the Gentiles salvation. It amounted to Jesus's death plus work meaning His death on the cross was not enough.Paul did admonish the Gentiles to not eat blood and not to commit fornication or eat meat offered to idols. If I am wrong please feel free to correct me. Different ones are questioning the salvation of others and you are no longer being a witness for Christ but a judge of His servants and we are warned about that in the book of Romans. I have been judged as not being a christian because I wear make up and cut my hair, wear pants etc.by a certain church that believes this is sinful behavior. I think they have weak faith but I don't judge them to be sinners, just a weaker brother.

Doubting Thomas: What are you? Eight years old? Act your age, not your shoe size.

Dolores: Yes ma'am. Which is one reason that it is of the utmost importance that Christians learn the principle and application of Biblical Discernment. Much of vain tradition and unbiblical doctrine could be thrown out of Christian pulpits were men of God to really "study to show themselves approved into God".

1 Corinthians15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Careful Bible man, your walking a thin line of teaching faith + works, which would be no different than RCC teachings.

Nat, your comment is so true. My husbands family are from Pentecostal Holiness Church and are nothing like what I've heard about, his brother is a pastor of one such Church. You will find that Satan always has a fake for the real. Tares and wheat in every church.

Matt from Mo writes:
Watch it Doubting Thomas. It's not Johnny Y's mere opinion, it's the word of God you just discounted. Snide remarks never got the cause of Christ anywhere but further down the hole. If you're not going to stand by the very basic principles of the Bible (such as the doctrine of Salvation by Grace through Faith) , then you are in fact "taking the name of The Lord in vain". Claiming to be His, yet denying His written Word. Kind of contradictory on your part. Get over your idiocy and focus on drawing closer to Christ. Get in your Bible and you may find that it clears up a lot of the junk that's clouding your mind.

Immediately after embracing Jesus as Savior I started being guided by the Holy Spirit to know that there are some unscriptural Catholic doctrines and some unscriptural parts to the Mass. Prior to embracing Jesus as Savior I didn't know that there are some unscriptural Catholic doctrines and some unscriptural parts to the Mass. Can you show me in the Bible where 'deciding' for Christ is said to be the same as 'being born again'?! Being born again means becoming a new creature in Christ, not a just a reformation of morals.
Stop pretending to be a Christian.
I am Born Again since I embraced Jesus as Savior and I trust in Him alone for salvation. Just because I still attend the Catholic Church doesn't automatically mean I am not really a Christian. The Bible states if one embraces Jesus as their Savior and trusts in Him alone for salvation then they are saved. Nowhere in the Bible is church attendance/membership in any church including an Evangelical Protestant Church mentioned as being required for entering Heaven upon ones demise. But you and some of the other Evangelical Protestants on here seem to think that if one who embraces Jesus as their Savior and trusts in Him alone for salvation doesn't attend an Evangelical Protestant Church that they are not really saved.

Typical of charismatic's. Not every pentecostal church is your typical screaming shouting prancing for Jesus name church. Some are very godly and do not have signs of weird things like the Charo churches. E.g rolling around the floor or laughing hysterically and claiming it is the spirit of God
