‘Cosmos’ TV Host Says Scripture Isn’t a Scientific Source
Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, host of the new “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” television re-boot, spoke out against people of faith who use their “religious text as a source of [their] science” during a radio interview Monday.

Tyson, who said that science and religion “can be compatible,” told WNYC host Brian Lehrer that he believes problems emerge when religious people start looking at the Bible and faith-based texts as the basis for their scientific views.

“If you start using your scripture, your religious text as a source of your science, that’s where you run into problems, and there is no example of someone reading their scripture and saying ‘I have a prediction about the world that no one knows yet because this gave me insight let’s go test this prediction and have that theory turn out to be correct,’” Tyson said.

The scientist went on to cite a specific example of the Earth being ...

‘Cosmos’ TV Host Says Scripture Isn’t a Scientific Source

R. K. Borill,
Thank God.
1 Timothy 6:20-21 KJV
[20] O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: [21] Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

But somehow nothing creating everything is scientific.

Um, yeah...what's so difficult about that? Something that was never there exploded and a soup of toxic goo that never existed began producing something called life that eventually created the fearful and wonderful accident called mankind after trillions of random combinations of trial and error. Somehow, the gooey puddle knew how to get everything working together so this mankind could live, whatever live means, and also accidently developed eyeballs so mankind could look around to see nothing since nothing existed. Afer the puddle created a man, it thought a woman would be cool. The puddle kept bubbling and animals and birds of every sort suddenly began forming, as did every sort of vegetation to randimly create the eco system we have today that supports mankind. Thankfully, the puddle accidentally fine tuned the universe, to top it all off, so that all the accidents it produced could live and breath. Thank you puddle.

Tyson starts by using two faulty assumptions.

1) The "scientific" view is the source of truth, therefore the biblical view is wrong.

2) The materialist/evolutionary view is "scientific," therefore any contrary view is not.
