NFL could pull Super Bowl if Arizona religious rights bill passes

Call it what you want -- anti-gay or religious rights -- but if Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signs a controversial bill, you might not be calling Arizona the home of the 2015 Super Bowl.

The Religious Freedom Restoration Act, S.B. 1062, is the current controversy du jour out of Arizona, and the National Football League is with the opposition.

“Our policies emphasize tolerance and inclusiveness and prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other improper standard,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told USA Today. “We are following the issue in Arizona and will continue to do so should the bill be signed into law, but will decline further comment at this time.” ...

Is that Jeremiah is saying? Consider what Cain said and how much your words sound like his:
Genesis 4:9-10 KJV
[9] And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? [10] And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
To use that verse to say what you are saying is WAY out of context. Try again please.

Not really sure where I gave the impression that I think that Christians should not stand for righteousness and the Christian life?? My contention is that we are not responsible for the unregenerate acting like they are unregenerate. (Jeremiah 13:23)

You lost me brother Strat, when did I refer to modern American liberal Christianity and insinuate that it was Biblical Christianity? The Bible says narrow is the way and straight is the gate that leads to heaven and FEW there be that find it. So, I would never think of Christians making up the majority of the population or for that matter the churched. Even our Lord questioned that when He comes back, will He find faith?
The church will never perish as God has said, but I never imagine it to be swelling numbers in an increasingly secular society. We just need to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world holding forth the Word of life to a lost and dying world.

We live in a secular society. Did Paul blame the Christians for decedance of the society? Did our Lord revile the disciples for the hypocrisy of the Sanhedrin? This shouldn't be an issue, think of the howls of protest if a black owned business was forced to make a pro KKK cake, no law exist for them to have to not "discriminate" and no groups protesting in favor of the "rights" of the KKK. It is just the vocal very small minority has all the PC crowd forcing their version of morality on everybody. Just another reminder we are pilgrims and strangers in this world and our treasures are to be stored up in heaven. Just another reminder we live in a secular society and we need to be diligent in giving out the gospel.
Modern American liberal Christianity is not biblical Christianity so its moot.

Apparently the Guv didn't like the way the bill was written either, nor businesses, nor John McCain. The NFL will pull their bowl game at a drop of a hat. They did pull out of Ariz. when it passed its highly reasonable immigration law. So, it would happen. The NY Times did an adequate job of explaining the situation. One can wonder if the bill could have been more tightly written, and so coupled queers couldn't sue owners who didn't serve because they paraded their gross immorality and demanded the owners to sanction the behavior? The Bible Says Homosexuality is Sin. while one can and should recognize The Inadequacy of Moralism there are behaviors that at least shouldn't be let out of the closet, for society's sake.

While Im sympathetic to those business owners that can suffer legal sanction for withholding their services to those special situations they have religious convictions against, Im actually fine with the veto

I really didnt like the way this bill was written, as this law could easily have been a framework leading to the persecution of Christians.

Amen and Amen brother, my sentiments indeed, and we need that continual reminder, for the old man will see to it that we forget so quickly. Thanks.

No surprise, the left got what it wanted because the right never showed up for the fight, who were the ones in the street and yelling the loudest while the members of the upright citizens brigade stayed home being realy swell guys and gals.

Conservatives are the most politically inept and cowardly political group that has ever existed, they elect traitors to their leadership,do nothing and then wonder what happened.

The NFL said: “Our policies emphasize tolerance and inclusiveness and prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other improper standard,”

Do they not notice the contradiction and hypocrisy of their own statement? They are not being tolerant and inclusive by themselves exhibiting discriminating against someone else's religious beliefs.

From the news:
"'Our policies emphasize tolerance and inclusiveness and prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other improper standard,' NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told USA Today."

Notice the inclusion of "sexual orientation" as though it were a standard which must be accepted? Start from the wrong premise, end with the wrong conclusion.

this isn't just about liberalism. this is a political movement. the few that own our corporations, Hollywood, wall street (with a long list of bankers who've passed away the last few weeks), are making their intentions clear, just as a few judges will tell the people to accept something they do not want. the point is clear, states are not going to be allowed to carry out their own gov's and constitutions.

the NFL is highly symbolic. with the moving of men from the farm and land ownership to industry, which was then lost to cities and service jobs, football and sports is one of the last vestiges of "guy" expression, especially after what happened to boy scouts last year.

this is an in-your-face thing from the NFL to the men who watch and play sports as well. now men in a locker room have to put up with this garbage?

its a way to keep the strong weak. what they are communicating is loud and clear.

we can thank the scriptures for warning us of these days to remain encouraged in the Lord.
