Los Angeles Bishop Kept Altar Boy List From Police

When Los Angeles police were investigating allegations of child abuse by a Roman Catholic priest in 1988, they asked for a list of altar boys at the last parish where the priest worked.

Archbishop Roger Mahony told a subordinate not to give the list, saying he didn't want the boys to be scarred by the investigation and that he felt the altar boys were too old to be potential victims, according to a deposition made public Wednesday.

The detectives investigating allegations against Nicolas Aguilar Rivera, a visiting Mexican priest, ultimately got the names of the boys from parish families. They determined the priest molested at least 26 boys during his 10 months in Los Angeles, according to the priest's confidential archdiocese file and police records made public by attorneys for the victims. ...

1 Peter 2
13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,
14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.
15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.
16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.---NASB

Those of the Romish Church, need to be punished, this is just a drop in the bucket, Archdiocese of Los Angeles to pay $13 million in sex abuse settlement

Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

While no argument about John UK comments about fallen minds, we still have the secular duty of bring these criminals to justice, Los Angeles cardinal unlikely to face charges. Atheists have little use for handwringing, A Call for Earthly Justice--Holding the Catholic Church accountable for its crimes. It's really time American Christian insist on it as well. Even the Romish Church have cynically done little since the John J. Report--on Sexual Abuse in the American Catholic Church of 10 years ago.

An excellent article on Mahony, For Roger Mahony, clergy abuse cases were a threat to agenda One can see his cares for the world got in the way of handling sex abuse cases. I will say the article is long as it is excellent.

Dorcas, my heart just sunk hearing about SF. I haven't stopped praying for her, baby, husband and kids. Indeed we serve a Sovereign Lord who is always right and just; it's something truly sweet to trust in. Thank you for the prayers for us, too. We have an appointment tomorrow with our midwife and I suspect we might have to help things along. Not the plan we wanted to go with, but God's leading!

Anne, Bless you for the prayers! We are not discouraged, we serve a sovereign LORD who open the door that no man shuts,or closes it that no man opens. Have searched the forum for news from SF...she is so much on all of our hearts! Praying for you and your family also

Good post John/YouKay...you don't usually comment on the topic. I think I understand blindness but I still never really get it. We all have the same bible. When it comes to where someone will spend eternity, why does man believe anything that comes from the mouths of mere man; following blindly anything that spews forth when each one has the ability to find out for themselves whether or not these things be true?
Acts 8:26-31 KJV
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

God works through means.

Roman Catholic leaders down through the centuries have been greatly hampered by having fallen minds and sinful natures, and these have certainly hearkened to Satan's lies, and become liars themselves, teaching things they ought not to have taught, persecuting the true believers who they ought not to have persecuted, and anathematising those who believed in justification by faith alone in Christ alone who they ought not to have anathematised.
Or to put it in kind words, the Roman Catholic Institution is a trash heap of religious junk, not worthy to be classed as a church.
Indeed, it is not a church but a counterfeit.
The expression "birds of a feather flock together" illustrates that if you are a sparrow, you will hang out with sparrows. Thus if you are a Catholic, you will hang out with Catholics. And all Catholics, being blind, will go into the ditch together; that is, into the blackest of darkness, for eternity.
So true John...as I post this I am in the home of 2 RC in this condition

I say this in love, hoping that the Spirit will open blind eyes and unstop deaf ears and quicken men into a life they never thought possible.

Thanks John. Nobody likes to hear it but unbiased studies have shown that the bulk of students entering into seminary are homosexual so the mountain of male victims isn't a surprise. This has been going strong and uninterrupted for so long that I have no doubt that it was well known and one strong reason that many even entered into seminary, and I'm sure the sexual deviancy was going on even beforehand. We all sin and things happen even within protestant churches. We are human and we sin, but they are a whole different class of sinners and the corrultion within the one true church is a whole different ball game because it was well known, accepted, hidden, and the victims were, and are, considered to be worthless pieces of trash that the church itself never cared about.

Who knows how long it has really been going on and the massive, long time running cover up tells me tells me that it was a secret, well known club that was so widescale that even the non deviant bishops and priests felt lost and helpless to do anything other than to listen to the disgusting confessions of their fellow priests.
Yes back in 1988 there were girl altar servers. There have been girl altar servers for close to 30 years now.

"They showed that Mahony, who was elevated to cardinal and retired in 2011, maneuvered behind the scenes with his top aide Monsignor Thomas Curry to shield molester priests, provide damage control for the church and keep parishioners in the dark"

700M paid out in legal fees since 2006...keep filling those baskets.
I have heard it said over and over by psychologists that pedophilia is a last stop for sexual deviants, after all other sexual avenues have been experienced and exhausted. What bothers me so much is that this isn't all some surprise that came out...the church has always known all about it, kept files on the incidents that came to light, kept it secret, and shuffled the priests around so they could hurt new children in another state. Then, when victims cryed out, the church would lie, pay them off, or use spiritual fear mongering to keep them silenced.

The title of this news article is wrong. It should state Los Angeles Bishop Kept Altar Server List From Police because girls can also be Altar Servers.
