'Son of God': Church Leaders Buying Out Theaters For Screenings

"Our church bought out every screen in the theater," Crossroads' Brian Wells said in a statement. If anyone comes to the theater to see another movie that night, they‚Äôll be out of luck, unless we have a few extra tickets to give them!‚ÄĚ

There are a few other theater buyouts for Son of God scheduled at Cinemark locations throughout the country, according to the theater chain's marketing and communications head James Meredith.

"It’s very interesting to see this level of excitement around the movie," Meredith said in a statement. "The interest level for meetings, events, screenings and buyouts seems to be on par with that of major blockbuster, tentpole or franchise movies."

Mega-church pastor Rick Warren is buying out screens in eight different theaters throughout Orange County. ...

It is only your warped opinion that I am not saved. My Born Again Non Denominational brother accepts that I am saved because I embraced Jesus as Savior by trusting in Him alone for salvation during an Altar Call at my brothers Non Denominational Church in November 1997. Just because I have not left the Catholic Church doesn't mean that I am not saved. Nobody in their right mind would believe that.

What is your problem anyway? If I accept the biblical doctrine of salvation that salvation comes only through trusting in Jesus alone for salvation then I am not a heretic to Protestantism. And if the Catholic Church is not cognizant of that I don't subscribe to all Catholic doctrine then I am not considered a heretic by the Catholic Church. My Born Again Non Denominational brother accepts that I am Born Again because I trust in Jesus alone for salvation even if I attend the Catholic Church.

John, you're only Roman Catholic by name, but not in practice like the rest. You're only Roman Catholic because of the secret you keep from the church. A heretic is any person who lives and believes false doctrines, unbiblical rituals, etc, no matter what the Word of God has to say about it. They follow what comes from the mouths of men instead of forming their beliefs around God's Word, alone. Would you still say that bona fide Roman Catholics are not heretics? By the way, heretics are not limited to the Roman church...they're all around and everywhere.

A few personal observations:

Firstly, if Jesus Christ were simply a good man, even the best of all men, this wouldn't be such s big deal, but He was and always will be God incarnate, Emmanuel, so how can anyone accurately portray Him. More than likely, all attempts to do so will be blasphemous if not heretical. And can we really expect them to follow the Biblical text, which does give the only perfect revelation of Him?

Secondly, many sinful men are always looking for ways to have what appears to be religiously Christian all the while containing elements of the world which are clearly carnal. Is not the appeal of this movie based upon the fact that it appears to be Christian, while satisfying the desire to be entertained by adding fictitious elements?

While Moses was up on the mount God told him of the peoples rebellion saying: "They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt."

Now, are not these so-called pastors of these churches suggesting to their congregations, "This is thy Savior, O Saints, which was crucified for thee?" This is plainly IDOLATRY! Rev. 22:18-19

Tara , The sequel, which will feature Tom Cruise replacing Philip Seymour Hoffman as Jesus, will have as the two key plot lines, the divorce of Jesus and mary magdalene and the subsequent remarriage of each.

P. S.
Make that Dopey not Djopey. I really am Dopey a lot of the time, in fact all the time for that's my name.

Another superhero movie. Everyyone wants a superhero! Beware! They are prepping us for the messiah (false christ's) appearing. They will try and tell us he didnt come before or hes married to mary magdalene or looks like the shroud of turin and on and on but seriously folks, who do you say he is? If i want cinemascope, sound effects and emotion building scenes I can visit almost every Church in my State this weekend. Im sick of it on Sundays so not about to pay for a front row seat at this latest craze. I dont need hollywoods approval of my God, He is the alpha and omega and needs no mans help to make him greater. Are we ready for his real return? Not the celluloid HD one?

A random google provided this ...
"Those who have, by God‚Äôs grace, escaped the cults of Mormonism or the Jehovah‚Äôs Witnesses are well aware of how altering the words and meaning of God‚Äôs holy Word can lead followers into grievous error and away from God‚Äôs pure truth. The main focus of cults like these has always been to ‚Äúretranslate‚ÄĚ Scripture in such a way as to prove their heretical positions and deceive their followers. Joseph Smith did it with his ‚ÄúNew Translation‚ÄĚ in order to preserve a bogus priesthood authority and mix works-righteousness with grace; and Jehovah‚Äôs Witnesses have produced the ‚ÄúNew World Translation‚ÄĚ to propagate their false teachings which deny Christ‚Äôs deity. These counterfeit Scriptures are an abomination and should be exposed for deceiving millions of people and leading them astray."
"Such is the reasoning for holding Rick Warren accountable for his hermeneutical methods in promoting his “Purpose
I unfortunately wasted an afternoon reading that book. I wouldnt call it a grand heresy like JWs, but rather a failed attempt to simply basic doctrines for a world that wants fast answers to difficult questions. In doing so, he took several texts out of context

Therein lies the problem I think: adding to and taking away from Scripture! As if what God said wasn't good/exciting/entertaining/intriguing enough for us! I understand the difficulty quieting yourself before God when the world around you seems to buzz and vibrate with media 24/7 - but it is the place we find Him and he can speak to us clearly. Reminds me of the city of Vanity Fair in Pilgrims Progress. People don't seem to want to just shut it out/down and concentrate on Christ and Christ alone. We might actually have to face, well, OURSELVES! He often draws us to Himself so tenderly at those times.

Doing ok here. Due date's the 17th so we are closer than yesterday at least! Like SF had said before, at this point, trying to be patient is the biggest challenge. We're ready for the baby to join the party! Ha!

Dorcas! Good morning(ish)! I couldn't stomach the movie - it was just about Mary! But it shows how easily we can be manipulated. We had a local church in Wyoming once hold a movie and Bible study for kids when "Horton Hears A Who" came out. Our neighbors sent their kids there and what did the kids say they learned? "Jesus loves you and hears you no matter who you are or what planet you're from!" ???? Still haven't found supporting Scripture for that one.
Annetry one of the new anti Jesus Christ bible translations, they are sure to have that idea featured front and center.

Praying for both you and Dorcas

Kinda like what GS wrote earlier...the hordes of people fighting with
Noah to get in the Ark. It "ain't" there But many will be taken by these deceptions for they would rather listen to Hollywood than read Gods word!
Hoping things are well with you and yours...still remembering you and SF in prayer.
