Can a Mason be a Christian?

Once upon a time the question, “Can a Mason be a Christian?” was a big deal in our church. One of our counselors had written an article for the church paper on the perceived fallacies of Masonry. One thing led to another, and before long the issue became, “How can we allow a practicing Mason to be a member or a leader in our church?”

A small firestorm erupted among those who were Masons.

I was shocked to discover that we had Masons seeded throughout the church. I was stunned when one of our long-term church members told me that four of our founding church deacons were Masons. Two were still on the deacon board.

It was time to learn about Masonry. As I began my research, I discovered that compared to Christianity, there were a number of things that bothered me. ...

Read the quote, I did not see ANY renouncing of allegiance to our Lord in saying we renounce allegiance to OTHER COUNTRIES. You are going have show me WHERE it says we cannot be a citizen of heaven and a citizen of this country.

Good for Lurker, this man is completely wrong in his analysis. If you don't like our country, you don't have to, please go find one you can be happy in.

btw, good to see you here brother Lurker, trust all is well.

Thank you for your nod of agreement to, Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses and The Five Solas of the Reformation.

It is a pity that many Masons (I suppose many just do take it as fraternal organization, and do not take its theology seriously), but still as I try to tell Catholics who say they are Christian and still refuse to Come Out Of The Catholic Church, they are being hypocritical in not doing so, as this article, The Masonic Lodge (Freemasonry), "The Masons also explicitly declare that entrance into the life to come is earned by their Masonic good works and purity of life...."

So, Free Masons just like Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses have to note they are not Christian, if they think any of their works has to do with salvation.

Whosover wants man to rule them and be their king and force everyone, including God's elect,to obey the commandments and traditions of man are welcome to simply leave the U. S. and go live somewhere else with their religion of violence.

Ha!

If it were me, I would have addressed John B**echy as a troll and not a pastor. But then, I don't feed the trolls.

But, since you brought it up, yes, I do love this country and pray for the peace of it for in its peace, I and my loved ones will have peace (Jeremiah 29:7). That is not to say I love the corrupt federal government but God will deal with that in His time. "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord. I will repay."

What have you done for the country you live in?

Reading through some of the comments it occurred to me that America has a huge population of people with no loyalty to or regard for America yet they are quite content to live here... from illegal aliens to people who's families came over on the Mayflower, from he ordinary citizen to the CEO and the highest offices in the land....Hmm,could this be the source of some of our problems ? I wonder ?

America has become like anything else people have that they didn't have to work for, sacrifice for and have never lost....hard lessons dead ahead.

This sounds like "much ado about nothing."
In these days, when a court in virginia cannot correctly quote "..all men are created equal.." as being in the Declaration of Independence, being a Mason seems to be a minor detail.

Nevertheless, it is interesting that the article's author was surprised to find many Masons in his church. If he wanted to find less, he should have joined the Orthodox Church or the Roman Catholic Church, where they are prohibited.

I am not a member nor interested in being one, but I have toured a historic Masonic bldg when they opened it for public tours during a festival held at a nearby public park. The members seemed to be mostly elderly, and eager to recruit younger people.

The U.S. oath of allegiance is clear that the two kingdoms, the kingdom of Christ and the kingdom of Antichrist, are incompatible.

Can a person accept Christ as "Savior" but not as "Lord?" Is repentance part of the Gospel? What is the relationship between faith and works? These questions are at the heart of the lordship controversy which has been raging for the last decade. Pastor Gil Rugh examines both sides of the lordship debate and helps answer the question - What must a person believe to be saved? If you are looking for answers to the lordship controversy, this booklet will give you a better understanding of the issues involved and what it means to believe in Jesus Christ.

This article is very interesting and informative — the secrecy of the Masons has long been a mystery to me. Yet, people in our society are free to access information about biblical Christianity. God's Word is accessible for people to reform their lives and their churches. Though many chose to be in ignorance of God's Word, the Scriptures are available to them. But with the Masons there are many secrets, just as there are many secrets with Scientology.

"Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, 'Which is the first commandment of all?' Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”'

~ Mark 12:28-31 NKJV
