Last-Minute Updates on the Debate Today with Bill Nye and Ken Ham
Editor's Note: Answers in Genesis is a broadcaster on SermonAudio and we encourage the audience on this website to remember to pray for a clear and indisputable presentation of the Gospel message tomorrow evening.
PETERSBURG, Ky., February 3, 2014‚ÄĒAs Bill Nye ‚ÄúThe Science Guy‚ÄĚ of TV renown and Ken Ham founder of the Creation Museum prepare their cases in what has been dubbed ‚ÄúScopes 2,‚ÄĚ the February 4, 7 PM (ET) debate is drawing major international attention.
In addition to CNN correspondent Tom Foreman who will moderate the debate, over 70 credentialed media will be in attendance, such as ABC, NBC, Scientific American magazine, Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), Al Jazeera, The New Yorker, etc.
Over 10,000 churches, schools, colleges, and other groups have informed the museum through www.debatelive.org that they will be carrying the free live stream of the debate. (That is just the number of groups that have actually told the Creation Museum of their plans.) Liberty University in Virginia, which conferred an honorary doctorate on Ham, will show a live stream of the debate at seven campus locations, including a 1,500-seat auditorium.
In addition to group leaders, the museum has heard from tens of thousands of individuals who have shared via www.debatelive.org that they will be watching. All told, more than one million people as a part of groups or as individuals have already informed the museum they will be viewing the debate. With the addition of people who have not contacted the museum about their intent to watch (it is not necessary to register to view the live stream), it is clear that many more than one million people will be watching.
People who purchased debate tickets when they went on sale online January 2 (tickets sold out in two minutes) represent 29 states and one country (Belize).
Immediately at the conclusion of the debate, Bill Nye and Ken Ham will walk inside the Creation Museum next door to be interviewed for the ‚ÄúPiers Morgan Live‚ÄĚ program on CNN for a 9:45 PM post-debate analysis. During the 10 PM hour and inside the museum, MSNBC TV will interview Mr. Nye by himself.
On a special website, a live stream of the debate will have nationally certified ASL interpreters signing (and at no charge) at www.debateliveASL.org.
The museum website as well as the website of the parent ministry that runs the museum, Answers in Genesis, have seen an 80% increase in traffic, totaling about two million visits in January alone. Most of this jump is due to interest in the debate.
It may perhaps be difficult to see or determine the value in a battle of wits with someone who cannot fathom Spiritual things. After all, the natural man will never grasp the things of God; for they are foolishness to him; they are spiritually discerned. And yet, it is a great joy to hold forth the Heavenly Light to a dark world. Especially so, when we consider that at that last day when our God asks Mr. Nye, ‚ÄúHas not my hand made all these things?‚ÄĚ Bill Nye will say, ‚ÄúYes Lord, and I knew it all along.‚ÄĚ
I'll be praying for your family, TC. We all have cancer cells in our bodys but it's terrible when anyone in the family turns victim to it. Just to let you know...you may not get too many responses but rest assured that people here will be praying, whether they say it out loud or not.

Cancer is a horror, and the treatment is worse horror. The stuff about cancer genes is bogus from what I've read on the Net, not to worry about that. The Medical Industry wants to terrify us, keep us running to them for their expensive (and usually harmful) "treatments."
Modern medicine is great for reparative surgeries for birth defects and injuries, but the meds and treatments are worse than useless. The surgeries for cancer are usually death-dealing. If a tumor is not encroaching on an organ, leave it alone.
Cancer can be reversed by diet, which is why you are into a wonderful field in your study of naturopathy, a godly field of service to your fellow man.
I've heard high dose vitamin C is a miracle against cancer, and liposomic C can be absorbed by the body at an even greater rate than if given intervenously. You can dissolve C powder, baking soda, add dissolved lecithin in blender, add to an ultrasonic gadget and turn it into liposomic. Google.
It was a nice debate, quite civil, although the debate format does annoy me at times. When I wish the debaters would play "ping pong" and explore objections and evidence further, they have to throw everything against a wall and see what sticks. But by in large, I feel Mr. Ham did an excellent job establishing the authority of scripture, and the nature of the debate being two philosophical non observable viewpoints. The only thing I wish Ham had addressed was the fact that Nye repeatedly emphasized "you translation that has been translated numerous time into American English is the model we should trust." I was wishing ham would point out that the translations are directly from the original languages, that a plain or natural hermeneutic isn't "literal" persay, and that Ham himself wasn't necessary for the creation model to work. All in all, excellent though.
Is it on SA?! If so I'll defidently listen! But like I said, "off the hook, totally crazy", what do I mean by that? (I actually need prayer here) Well for starters my Uncle has bone cancer & he has for the past couple of weeks suffered hell on earth. My Aunt may have cancer & we just discovered that my fanily has the hereditary cancer gene, so I may have cancer. I haven't been to guitar practice in a week! Look when I don't practice on my guitar for a week, then that's how you know something is wrong. So I need to ask you guys a favor, PLEASE PRAY!!!!!!!
Btw Mr Ham, I would like to commend you for using your platform to present what the evidence that God left regarding Himself is for, that He has chosen to glorify Himself through the gospel! I commend you for presenting that several times. That is how you are faithful and I was proud of Mr Ham for remembering to present that
while some argue a moot point for the lulz others are loosing a fish stick fortune ...Christian Charity Loses A Fish Stick Fortune In Ca this is how the WELS have been operating for some time ... they want my tithe so the fat pastor with the soft girly hands can vacation at a convention whilst my husband walks bent over and crippled with a halting step after a day of real work ... why churches make me wish them all burned to the ground and all pastors imprisoned for fraud and theft
If you assume you know the starting point based on consistentcy.....
Bill is using the growing universe model and just said there isn't enough time in a creation model for the universe to have grown to the point it is at now. The problem is he is assuming it starts from a cental point. Why? What evidence does he have that he can pressume this? He doesn't and it is irresponsible to do so and that is why his argument falls apart.
But they are making compelling arguments for their sides
They are streaming it live. And TC, no ken ham is much more equipped than comfort. This is ham's specialty and what he founded his ministry upon. Of course, I wish it was the chemist Dr. John Sarfati. That man has a crazy sharp mind.
