Buddhism and the Broncos

If you live in the United States, you know that “Super Bowl Sunday” is practically a religious holiday. It’s inescapable. As Buddhists, it’s easy to dismiss the American football championship game as “superficial” and “violent” but there is a place for sports in Buddhism. Modern sports developed out of the gladiator fights of the Roman Empire. The emperors used them to distract the public from government malfeasance, but the gladiator battles required the loser to be killed. Yikes! Thankfully, sports today are non-lethal but still act as “release valves” for society. But, is American football too “violent” for Buddhists?

Consider this: The Sanskrit definition of non-violence literally means, “non-injury.” The intention of American football isn’t to “injure” the other player(s) but rather score points. Sometimes, players do get injured but injuries and violence is not the point of the game. Any ...

Justification by faith alone in Christ alone is throughout Scripture:
ex: Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
If Mr. Beechy would sincerely like to read more about justification, I would highly recommend www.gty.org and search justification by faith alone. Further, while various evangelistic denominations might disagree on some of the secondary issues, they all would agree on sola fide (justification by faith alone) and sola Scriptura.

Apparently the Broncos had too much Buddhism, since they were so meek and mild on the field.

John Y., you get a lot of things wrong on religion. John you need to get Satan out of your heart.

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.---NASB

You have not repented of your sins of attending the Romish Church and Come Out Of The Catholic Church No Christian who has been exposed to as much truth as you have would remain in that international crime organization.

Just wanting John Yurich to answer me.

I'm confused by this remark, John Beechy.
Is it that you do NOT believe that Jesus is God, i.e., the second Person of the Trinity? Or are you playing "devil's advocate" with John Yurich?
Please clarify.

When Christ comes back all the divisions among Christians will be demolished, but until then, these divisions are unfortunately unavoidable because of the many churches (or falsely so called) that propagate error, and the necessity to break away and start new ones.

Character Assassination:
The writer of the article states that football is "non-lethal". I would take him to task. While no one physically dies in the act of watching it, all of the elements connected with it (i.e. sexualization, promotion of controlled substances and playing up the pride of life) assassinate the characters of those who are desensitized to it. If people aren't outwardly affected, they are, at the very least, consenting to many of the abominable sins that are associated with it. One cannot choose to put sinful things before their eyes without them eventually undermining their sensibilities.

John Yurich, show me where in the scriptures it states that salvation is by justification by faith in Jesus alone, and where in the scriptures it states that trusting in Jesus alone means the same thing as salvation is by justification by faith in Jesus alone, and show me in the scriptures where Christ created a Lutheran church. And show me in the scriptures where Jesus is God.
If the so-called Baptist and Evangelical Protestant churches teach and believe truth, then there would be no need for a Baptist or an Evangelical Protestant description of the church, for they would simply be churches as Christ has created, because Christ did not create a Baptist church or an Evangelical Protestant church, and therefore Baptist and Evangelical churches are not real churches because the ones who have created them are not Christ and are obviously teaching something in addition to the teachings of Christ for that is why they have the Baptist and Evangelical Protestant description to describe their extra biblical teaching that they have conjured up in their depraved minds.
Ignorance knows no limits!

I agree that my first comment on this article deserved to be chewed out for the obvious error. I should have known that it is Hinduism and not Buddhism that believes cows and rodents are sacred but it was early and I wasn't thinking properly.

John Y wrote:
Who cares about Buddhism? Buddhism is the most stupidest religion around

There are really only two religions: that of Satan, and that of Christ. Every religion that doesn't preach repentance and faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ as the only means of salvation really worships Satan and his devils unawares.

John 8:44 "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there was no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it."

2 Corinthians 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
