British Museum: Prototype for Noah's Ark was round
It was a vast boat that saved two of each animal and a handful of humans from a catastrophic flood.

But forget all those images of a long vessel with a pointy bow - the original Noah's Ark, new research suggests, was round.

A recently deciphered 4,000-year-old clay tablet from ancient Mesopotamia - modern-day Iraq - reveals striking new details about the roots of the Old Testament tale of Noah. It tells a similar story, complete with detailed instructions for building a giant round vessel known as a coracle - as well as the key instruction that animals should enter "two by two." ...

The fact is, the Bible tells us that those 8 survivors were the progenitors of the current human race; understanding how messages are changed as they pass from generation to generation it is understandable that the stories would differ; as a matter of fact, every major civilization has a 'flood story' in their history. Europeans were amazed that even the Native Americans had a flood story... It's kind of like the Babylonian "Cain and Abel" in which the god liked the vegetable offering and spat at the animal sacrifice. Are both versions true; of course not, but they both have root in the truth. The difference is that the Bible is the preserved Word of God, which is why we believe it.

1. If I said that Columbus sailed across the ocean blue in a submarine, would it change the fact that he sailed with the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria? No. Just because someone writes something does not mean it is true.
2. Just because something is old does not mean it is right. The writer might have received wrong information or made a wrong assumption.
3. Only 8 people survived the Flood. I don't think our man with the clay tablet was an eyewitness.

Not only that Jim, but if the story is true (which it is) then one would expect different versions to be out there as the story of what happened was passed down from generation to generation by different branches of the flood's survivors.

It is quite reasonable to assume that others copied the God's story from the Hebrews.

This is nothing new. People were saying the Ark was round for years because of early fables about a flood that no doubt came about because of the biblical flood. Just because someone wrote down a story about the flood before the biblical one, doesn't mean the biblical one is false. God knows what happen, He was there.
