Obama to visit pope during European visit in March
U.S. President Barack Obama plans to visit with Pope Francis at the Vatican in March during a trip to Europe, the White House said on Tuesday.

Obama is scheduled to meet with the pope on March 27 in a trip that will include stops in the Netherlands, Belgium and other parts of Italy, it said in a statement.

It will be the first meeting between the two men, who share a focus on addressing the gap between rich and poor.

“The president looks forward to discussing with Pope Francis their shared commitment to fighting poverty and growing inequality,” the White House said. ...

Chris, I should have given a on your excellent comment.

I dislike seeing any American official validating the largest criminal organization in Italy, the Romish Church with a visit to el capo de capo of it, the Pope.

Why John Y., what a healthy attitude! So when are you going to make a Pilgrimage From Rome?

As was pointed out in a couple of threads here on SA, e.g., "Conservative Catholics question Pope Francis’s approach," it will be some fun watching Conservative Catholic Greedy Old Partiers squirm to fulfill the wishes of the new Pope. While I enjoyed at the time, Will Bill Clinton out GOPing the GOP when he was in office, I did not find it amusing at all the results he had in doing so, in later years.

Right on, John. He would disagree, of course and it's amazing how a man can believe, and a chuch can believe that he is the holy, infallible father of all Christendom; unable to err from his seat. The main reason there are so many heresies is because of these Popes spouting whatever they please over the centuries; dogma and doctrine that can never be reverted or recinded so the Roman church is always scrambling to justify these doctrines. Most of the doctrines are not only unbiblical, but their authority lies solely upon tradition, apocrypha, and single, out of context verses of Scripture that they build entire doctrines out of.

There is nothing wrong with Obama or anybody else visiting the Pope. The Pope is just a normal jerk like everybody else is and not on a pedestal. The Pope is not the Vicar of Christ. The Pope is just the earthly leader of the Catholic Church.
