South African Pastor Leads Grass-Eating Followers

A South African church leader has come under fire after reports that he made members of his congregation eat grass.

Pastor Lesego Daniel, who is based in Garankuwa, north of Pretoria, told dozens of followers to eat grass because “it will bring them closer to God”.

Daniel made headlines globally after images were shown of his followers laying down in a field and furiously munching grass. Further images were then shown of some followers vomiting.

That is what I would say and I appreciate chris frost' comments.

But I would caution like paul did, anything that in any way deviates from the gospel is not a gospel. Missionaries that teach anything that is not pure gospel is not a missionary. And a church with incorrect teaching is not a church. The true bride of Christ is being purified.

Are we not taught that those that are false are doing it for worldly gain?

A missionary that feeds them twisted, incorrect doctrine is actually worse than no missionary at all. How do you convince someone that they need salvation if they think they already have it? It makes the next missionary's job that much more difficult. Case in point, try getting Yurich to leave the roman church

Surely you aren't suggesting that we send no missionaries JSC? Doctrinal purity and acuity is a necessity most definitely, but better that they hear the Gospel from a poorly equipped missionary than not at all?

No you are not far off. Really a lot of this nonsense you see going on over there has seeds in the doctrinal weak or wicked missionaries we send and from what I understand because they have no doctrine the missionaries cannot deliver a gospel message that sets up fences around the christian faith and so witch doctors go on practicing and just change some of the wording. This is prevelent in all animistic cultures and something I had to be very aware of when I was there.

It is why when I have some people tell me "oh I am going to be a missionary" I beg them not to go. I agree with Paul Washer heartily because I have seen glimpses of it myself and yet I am a "suckling" compared to him. I can't imagine what he has seen

We can bring examples like this right on over into the US because so many will do anything some man tells them because they don't know their bible, or have been convinced that God speaks directly through them. Maybe nobody here is laying on their bellies eating grass, but they are believing any ridiculous thing that comes from the mouths of deceiptful man. Really crazy what some choose to believe even when it is in direct contradiction to the Word of God itself. What are people thinking? I don't get it. Whether it's barking, being slain in the spirit, or babbling gibberish in the middle of some Charismatic services, or worshipping a Pope, a diefied "Queen", a wafer of bread, or a purified finger in a glass case, so many choose the human over the very Word of God which gives such clear instruction. How can anyone believe that the bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and claim to worship Christ, yet work directly against Him in practice; choosing to believe in and follow whatever spews from the ever deceiptful mouths of error prone, sin filled, arrogant, fallen man?

Didn't Nebuchadnezzar eat grass in a state of madness?

Not an example I'd like to follow.

Oh and one more thing, if eating grass brings you closer to God, then none is closer than a cow. Just some food for thought. (Pun intended)

Uh huh, eating grass brings you closer to God? Riiiiight, I'm pretty sure that's what the hippies thought when they were smoking LSD back in the 60's. There's a reason society today doesn't think of the 60's as a "golden age".
This guy is just another Jim Jones.
