Most Christians not sharing the Gospel
A new survey suggests that Christians are not sharing their faith despite many feeling the responsibility to do so.

In a survey of over 1,000 Canadian Protestants, 43% claimed they felt a "personal responsibility to share my religious beliefs about Jesus Christ with non-Christians".

However, 78% had not "shared with someone how to become a Christian" in the past six months.

Are y'all suggesting a born again believer can be denied eternal life for not obeying God?

Speaking up about Jesus is not really an option for those who want to enter Christ's eternal kingdom and not be denied. Jesus said: "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 10:32-33). See also Luke 12:9-10 about Christ confessing or denying men before the angels of God.
Admittedly, there can be a cost to confessing the claims of the kingdom of God among the kingdoms of men. The cost can come as persecution.
Jesus paid a high cost of suffering in order that men and women might be justly pardoned and enter His Kingdom forever.
Thank you for this post. Persecution is part of being a Christian, and may well mean in our own life we can lose everything, our life, our friends, our family, our possessions, to stand for Jesus and not deny him. But if we deny him, he will deny us before the Father. Is it worth it to go to Hell so we can have a few more months or years in this vale of tears known as Earth? Or to be able to join the family picnics if we just will keep quiet about Jesus and go along -- if it means spending an eternity in Hell and missing Heaven?

The gospel is a message about a King and a kingdom. It is called the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Mark 1:1) and the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 4:24, 9:35, more) The full message about King Jesus and His Kingdom is called the gospel by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

The gospel of the kingdom will continue to go out. Jesus said: "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come" (Matthew 24).

Where there is a King and a kingdom, there are laws and commands. The king must be obeyed.

Well I inform individuals on discussion forums that salvation comes only through trusting in Jesus alone for salvation.

If you know how you were saved, and can articulate that, then you are fully equipped for evangelism. If you can't, well then you may need to reevaluate your standing with God.

Another presby with no appetite to share the gospel with the lost. He would rather find excuses instead.

Calvin...
I Peter 3 (KJV)

12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous,..

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Acts 8 (KJV)
Now Saul was consenting to his death.

At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.....

4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word

Besides this we have the great commission given to the church, none of these verses suggest that only God ordained pastor/teachers are to be the only ones to share their faith. Besides the verses you quote say they are given to the church to equip the saints for the work of the ministry

Matthew 5 (KJV)---(to the multitudes)

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Calvin, Luther, the Reformers and the puritans "SHARED their faith" and still do today by written testimony. Praise be to God.

But they are rejected by some as not being "biblical" - especially some local Baptists around here.

As for sharing abilities!
Why did God teach:-
1Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

If God commanded and ordained these disciples and worked in and through them specifically - Then obviously THAT IS THE GROUP GOD WORKS IN TO quote "SHARE" FAITH.

He is a God of order not chaos in revealing the truth. Many are guilty of arrogance enough to presume they have this expertise and Satan uses this sin well in churches.

So you want them to go down the Roman Road as well as making pilgrimage from Rome? They won't know whether they are coming or going

1517, I think you are on the right track, but then no Christian should be discouraged from sharing the gospel no matter how inexperienced he is. He at least should train himself, or try to if he has a memory capability about, The Roman Road.

Unfortunately here on SA we do have people that don't realize that they should Come Out Of The Catholic Church. They should be encouraging everyone they know to make Pilgrimage From Rome. Until then these folks aren't really Christians, and not have completed their journey up the Roman Road. Is A Catholic Christian An Oxymoron? (Yes!)

Not sure how I feel about that. There is a distinctive list given regarding gifts I would agree and to be honest I personally wish some would not say anything at all. But the commisioning of Christ is not localized nor is Peter exhortation to be ready to give a defense. Paul's argument for "how shall they hear" rom 12 is not either.
The 1 reason for not evangelizing is fear of man or not knowing how to respond and that is grievous sin.
But I would have to search more on this to take a position. For me, I open my mouth and plead with men. Thanx Spurgeon

In the article it states the research president or lead, Ed Stetzer, says that the more mature Christians are more willing to share their faith than new believers. I would say that is biblical. Others may disagree but I am convinced that not all people are called to win people to Christ through evangelism. All ARE to LIVE out their faith before the non believing world, but not all are called to evangelize.
