Shortly before leaving the Capitol for the holiday recess, Senate Democrats gathered behind closed doors to lay out an agenda for 2014. When the majority leader, Harry Reid, exhorted colleagues to ‚Äúdeal with the issue of income inequality,‚ÄĚ the talk took a spiritual turn.
‚ÄúYou know,‚ÄĚ declared Senator Bernard Sanders, the Vermont independent, who caucuses with Democrats, ‚Äúwe have a strong ally on our side in this issue ‚ÄĒ and that is the pope.‚ÄĚ
That Mr. Sanders, who is Jewish, would invoke the pope to Mr. Reid, a Mormon, delighted Roman Catholics in the room. (‚ÄúBernie! You‚Äôre quoting my pope; this is good!‚ÄĚ Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois recalled thinking.) Beyond interfaith banter, the comment underscored a larger truth: From 4,500 miles away at the Vatican, Pope Francis, who has captivated the world with a message of economic justice and tolerance, has become a presence in Washington‚Äôs...
17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. 19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; *20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.* 23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. Rev17:11-18
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
In my studies it appears this is the 6th vial judgment poured out on the apostate church and there is yet one to follow. Its relation to the 6th seal and trumpet seem to indicate it is a judgment on the eastern section of that empire (trumpet)/church (vial) seventh trumpet and vial? follows the rise of the of the Church after the completion of the 1260 years of the great falling away or Daniel's time, times and a half of time see Rev. 11:1-13 ; verse 14 states The second woe(trumpet)is past; and, behold, the third woe (trumpet)cometh quickly.
1517, when did I say we knew the time that Christ was coming back? Of course we also don't then know when the tribulation starts either. I would also suggest you read, A Short History Of Dispensationalism. The idea of the millennium goes back to the early church. Also for your listening pleasure, I will point out the short sermon on Dispensations.
Frank, if I may add......Revelations is for us, God intended His people to have help in these fast changing times, for edification and warning for today, and when one is going through tribulation it brings clarity and protection, revelation 22 warns of sealing the words.
"Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book." verse 7
"And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand." verse 10

I agree Penny and I am a convinced Post-trib rapture person. Some think this issue should not be discussed, but scripture gives us signs for a reason and scripture talks extensively on His second coming. The only thing we are not to do is predict the "day or hour", but we should attempt to discern the times and the season.
Jim, Dispensational and Pre-tribulation doctrine are new (19th century) western ideas. Besides, no matter your eschatology, Christ said NO ONE knows when he shall return. Kind of hard the write off the others without doing the same for your own.

Read the encyclical Rerum Novarum; it's effectively a Progressive manifesto, & has been cited ever since by popes in their crusade for "social justice" (redistributionist gov't policies). It is an example of "Third Way" thinking which has dominated Western politics since then: neither Marxist nor libertarian.
Excerpt: "the first thing of all to secure is to save unfortunate working people from the cruelty of men of greed." ‚ÄĒ does this sound familiar?
Don't be deceived by Repub conservatives (such as at Nat'l Review) who claim the RCC supports laissez-faire capitalism; the church never has.
The correct and more appropriate name of the article is
"Popular Voice in the Capitol? It’s the Pope’s"
If the newsdesk would have read beyond the first few paragraphs they would have found Republicans too care about the poor. How do you like that? Christian Republicans actually are concerned about the well being of the poor.
Honourable mention to Senator Joe Donnelly Democrat from Indiana and Notre Dame grad who responded ‚ÄúHe‚Äôs not there to promote the Republicans or promote the Democratic Party. He‚Äôs there simply to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ....‚ÄĚ
The link peaked my curiosity so I gave Mr MacArthurs answer a listen and he gjves his answer within the 1st minute or so of the vid for anyone else curious. What he says is that (assuming a pre trib rapture) to function in society on a basic level and to buy groceries, or anything for that matter, one would need to have taken the mark of the beast on the left hand or in the forehead. Now his reasoning is that if the saints are already gone, and multitudes are saved; the 144,000, etc, out of the tribulation, those multitudes must have taken the number to survive for so long but were forgiven and redeemed, nevertheless. I was paraphrasing here and what I guess he's saying is that one can take the number, come to their senses and repent, be forgiven and redeemed in the end.
I'm wondering what those who believe in a pre trib rapture think of this even though it's off topic.
