International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that twelve Christians were brutally murdered by suspected Boko Haram militants in northern Nigeria over the weekend. According to reports, these Christians were killed in two attacks on separate Christian villages in Nigeria's Muslim majority state of Borno.
The first attack took place on Saturday, December 28, in the Christian village of Tashan-Alede where eight people attending a wedding celebration were killed when militants connected with Boko Haram opened fire on the Christians gathered. According to the Christian Broadcasting Network, "One attack took place at a pre-wedding bachelor party. Suspected fighters from Boko Haram opened fire on the group, killing eight people."...
I am too but you know what brother when they open their mouths the sweet nectar of knowing God through this experience is so captivating. They talk and you are just on the edge of your seat and it just begs the question, what amount of suffering does it really take to know God like that and is it worth it? I do wish I could talk that way but am afraid to walk through the fire to get there. You know?
Adam Read carefully. I stated "encourage your brothers in what God has for them" Applied. These peopled died for their faith. God's martyers are honored of God: Rev 6 the 5th seal. Romans 8 gives your calling and purpose as God's children on earth. Real world. I have suffered persecution. My friends child died last night. I am affirming encouragement in God having purpose to suffering, for chosing to us to suffer. Consider the apostles rejoiced at being counted worthy to suffer. I didn't claim it was ez just biblical
also jsc thats easy to say when you are not the one being persecuted. Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy. Persecution is surely coming harsher in our country of america and we will need all the mercy and grace and encouragement we can get in our hour of need. when faced with peraecution i pray by the Spirit we would not deny Him in that moment
jsc. look at 1cor 12: 12-26 and when jesus in matthew was dividing the sheep from the goats he was talking to them in regards to his bretheren. just look at it as being a water boy for your persecuted brothers and sisters. not so much to end the violence but to encourage them. they are more of an encouragement to us. teen christian. if you go to persecution.com it will have all the links associated with the ministry including icommittopray.com.
The fifth seal Matt 10 matt 24 Romans 8 God has called the matyrdom of His saints necessary for His express purposes. Romans 8 referrence "we are sheep to be slaughtered". I am not sure I agree that we need to put feet to our prayers to end violence against christians. What we need is to die to self, pick up our cross (instrument of death) and go to our suffering brothers and encourage them in what God has appointed for them. This is not fatalistic thinking. God has an express purpose for the martyrdom of His elect therefor it gives it eternal value and purpose.
Thank you Adam for the web site which I'm going to look up. It's hard to read about the persecutions and feel helpless to help. Prayer helps but sometimes we need to put feet to our prayers by voting, contacting congressmen when important issues come up for a vote. Apathy is a death to Christianity. How did Jesus put it in Revelations..if you are lukewarm I'll spew you out of my mouth.
