'Angels have no wings': Catholic 'angelologist'

Angels exist but do not have wings and are more like shards of light, at least according to a top Catholic Church "angelologist" who says the heavenly beings are now back in vogue thanks to New Age religions.

"I think there is a re-discovery of angels in Christianity," Father Renzo Lavatori said on the sidelines of a conference on angels in a lavishly-frescoed Renaissance palace in Rome.

"You do not see angels so much as feel their presence," said Lavatori, adding: "They are a bit like sunlight that refracts on you through a crystal vase."

The clergyman was taking part in a debate on angelic art by the Fondazione Archivio Storico organised in the Vatican-owned Palazzo della Cancelleria. ...

I'll talk to my Mom & Dad Steve, but I'm telling you, unless God works a divine miracle, it's not going to happen.
But then again God just so happens to be in the miracle business so I'll devote more prayer to this issue.

Im not surprised you cant distinguish true Reformed Christianity due to your bias against Rome

"THE oldest of the doctrinal standards of the Christian Reformed Church is the Confession of Faith, popularly known as the Belgic Confession, following the seventeenth-century Latin designation "Confessio Belgica." "Belgica" referred to the whole of the Netherlands, both north and south, which today is divided into the Netherlands and Belgium. The confession's chief author was Guido de Bräs, a preacher of the Reformed churches of the Netherlands, who died a martyr to the faith in the year 1567....

In the Netherlands it was at once gladly received by the churches, and it was adopted by national synods held during the last three decades of the sixteenth century. The text, not the contents, was revised again at the Synod of Dort in 1618-19 and adopted as one of the doctrinal standards to which all officebearers in the Reformed churches were required to subscribe. Please talk to your parents about your obligation to attend Church. In Georgia, you cant be more than an hour away from a good Church and we have people driving that at ours. Someone like you is desperately needed as a peer for other teens. Really, you are needed and its your FAMILY Obligation

From the Belgic Confession{edited for space}

Article 28: The Obligations of Church Members
We believe that since this holy assembly and congregation is the gathering of those who are saved and there is no salvation apart from it, no one ought to withdraw from it, content to be by himself, regardless of his status or condition.
But all people are obliged to join and unite with it, keeping the unity of the church by submitting to its instruction and discipline, by bending their necks under the yoke of Jesus Christ, and by serving to build up one another, according to the gifts God has given them as members of each other in the same body...., even if civil authorities and royal decrees forbid and death and physical punishment result.

And so, all who withdraw from the church or do not join it act contrary to God's ordinance.

Look John, I mean this with all respect, but you just don't get it! Apparently you don't understand how young I really am (which is my fault really). I'm 15, almost 16, so I still live with my Dad. And my Dad wants to go to church, but we can't, for reasons I've already explained.
As for your suggestion on moving, now you're border lining nuts (i mean this with respect) if we moved it would KILL my Mom & Dads business.
Here's my point: i CAN'T go to church!
Okay TC, well you may be young, but that is no barrier to answered prayer. The thing is, what is God's will for you? You say that God spoke to you through Paul Washer, making you zealous for souls, wanting to get involved in seeing people saved. Think on those things, keep praying, and see what God can do. Christianity is not a systematic theology, but a reconciliation with a living God. And only he has the answer you need. God is a miracle working God. The same God who set Paul and Silas free from a prison cell can set you free too. Be patient, be prayerful, be satisfied with home worship for the present. You are very fortunate to have a father who loves the scriptures.

You know TC, I live in the same state as you. There are multitudes of churches that preach and practice the truth from the Word of God in the area in which I live (Atlanta metro). There is a reason we are the so called Bible belt. Unless you are way out in rural Georgia, I would find it hard to believe you could not find a church that preaches and practices the Bible. This site even has a local church finder. Now, I will be honest, most would not share your love for CCM and I am not sure how much that would be a barrier for you. Also, thank the Lord for giving you a godly dad who loves the Word.

That's great, so ask him what church you ought to attend. If he says there isn't one, consider a move in order to get among God's people.

On these threads you will get different opinions TC regarding a church.

Why not write to some of these pastors you have encouraged us all to listen to, and ask their advice. You need advice from someone or you'll find yourself going all over the place.

Let me give you an illustration of what the churches in my area are like: you walk in and sit down in a pitch black room, then some lights flash on the stage and a band with hair coming down to their shoulders, wearing clothes that look like they were torn by a bear, blare their guitars singing (did I say singing? Screaming I meant) about..... come to think of it, the guitars are so loud I can't hear the words. Then the pastor gets up, wearing the most "hip" clothes and starts telling us how to live "our best lives now" (incidentally you're only living you're best life now if you're going to hell) then more lights and screaming and then the concert is over everybody walks out and goes to the latest "church activity" which NEVER involves prayer, Bible study or evangelism! Now can you blame me for not going?
