2014 Rose Bowl Parade will end with a homosexual ‘marriage’

It’s the West Coast equivalent of New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade – the world-famous Tournament of Roses Parade held each New Year’s Day in the Los Angeles suburb of Pasadena. The parade, featuring giant festive floats colored not with paint, but with millions of fresh-cut flowers, usually draws a huge crowd: Last year, an estimated 800,000 people showed up to watch in person, while another 80 million around the world watched on television.

This year, the event’s viewers will see more than just the family-friendly parade they’ve come to expect over the event’s more than 100-years-long history – they’ll also witness a controversial same-sex “wedding,” courtesy of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF).

According to the Pasadena Star News, a pair of homosexual hair stylists will “marry” on the parade route while riding a wedding-cake shaped float sponsored by the AHF. ...

Quibble: LifeSite's title is incorrect; it is not the Rose *Bowl* Parade, but the Tournament of Roses Parade or Rose Parade, which the article's text has correct. The Rose Bowl game was inaugurated in 1902, 12 yrs. after the parade.

Thanks GsTexas,J4J, and Josiah for your helpful answers.

Josiah, I do appreciate the verses you quoted, which I will address shortly.

I think if you look at Deut. 4:6; 14:2; 29:24; I Chron. 16:24,31 and scores of verses in the Psalms about the nations, one might see the children of Israel were also to be a light and preservative to the heathen round about.

I believe the verses you sighted are commands to Christians to keep their testimony unvarnished and uncovered before the world. That loss of that testimony removes their ability to do just that. What I don't see, and maybe you can help, is how their testimony or lack thereof is the cause of the actions of those who are not saved.

I am not saying your testimony cannot have any effect. It was said of D L Moody that the tenor of the places he went changed when he entered the room. One reading Sinners in the hands of an angry God today, as Jonathan Edwards did when he preached it,undoutbtedly would not have similar effect because God's hand was truly upon Dr. Edwards who begged to have eternity painted on his eyeballs.

It takes a person being born from above to change their actions morally. I still don't see blaming the church for the overall actions of the ungodly. But as I said, what think ye?

What you say is undoubtedly true about the world. It is corrupt and deteriorating. However, one point worth making is that Christ did not say to Noah, or Elijah the following words which are spoken to his true disciples:

Matthew 5
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We have a responsibility in this world of which we do not read in the OT concerning OT saints.

Thanks for the info about the two other weddings. Also, I think you make a good point about the world being to blame for not believing.

The Bible reminds us that in the last days perilous times shall come and describes a long list of sinful behavior that will mark the world during the end times. Even our Lord said it will be like the days of Noah, a time described by God as every imagination of the heart of man as only evil continually.

While I agree that the true message of Scripture needs to be emphasized in churches, and that we need to shine as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse world, I would hardly think that the world acting like the world is the fault of the church.

Do we blame Noah for the decadence of his days? Was it Elijah's fault that those who followed the Lord were few in number? The early Christians lived in a very godless culture, where do you see Paul writing a condemnation of the churches for the actions of the world?

My poor mite, what think ye?

As for the lukewarm churches reframing from any hint of political speech, I have come to believe that it is more about church indebtedness stifling their speech in most instances. Church pastorates and board members sign off on debt to build facilities and until that debt is paid off, offending people in their congregations has a negative impact on giving. This includes overt sinners in the pews and family members who have overt sinners in the family who do not wish to have them condemned...as if that's going to get them into heaven. Just my observation over the last several years when speaking out boldly might have helped. Of course for those silent churches with no debt well, I believe there is a chapter or two in Revelations where Christ discusses them directly. Blessings to all.

Dont let a corrupt world steal the beauty of marriage on Jan 1, mourn for them

“How beautiful, then, the marriage of two Christians, two who are one in hope, one in desire, one in the way of life they follow, one in the religion they practice.

“They are as brother and sister, both servants of the same Master. Nothing divides them, either in flesh or in Spirit. They are in very truth, two in one flesh; and where there is but one flesh there is also but one spirit.

“They pray together, they worship together, they fast together; instructing one another, encouraging one another, strengthening one another.

“Side by side they face difficulties and persecution, share their consolations. They have no secrets from one another, they never shun each other’s company; they never bring sorrow to each other’s hearts… Psalms and hymns they sing to one another.

“Hearing and seeing this, Christ rejoices. To such as these He gives His peace. Where there are two together, there also He is present, and where He is….there evil is not.” – Tertullian

its such a disgusting behavior. and yet they are overcome by it. praying for those who are trapped in the misdeeds of the flesh, that they might find their hope and restoration in Jesus Christ.

Today we remember that He walked among us. The Heavenly Father truly loves His children -- for those without a dad, looking in all the wrong places for what they weren't given, it is the Holy Spirit that comforts those in their sorrows.

These are all promises for those who belong to Christ. Its in the scriptures, we are saved by faith, trusting in the work of Christ to forgive us, and those that are free of their sins are free indeed.

The world system wants everyone to sell their souls to this order that goes against the natural use of the body and against the law of God.... one can hear this and easily give in, but in Christ, the believer is an overcomer and nothing separates the saint from the love of Christ. walking away from the domination of sin for eternal life is definitely worth it. but it is the Spirit of God that does this great thing.

Our culture has reached this low point because the professing church in America has for many years failed to proclaim the whole counsel of God and has failed to denounce sin from the pulpit for fear of appearing too 'negative.' So-called churches which have abandoned the authority of Scripture have tolerated for years false shepherds in the churches and false teachers in the seminaries who have denied completely the biblical gospel, by denying such cardinal doctrines as the deity of Christ, the substitutionary atonement of Christ, the necessity of repentance, the eternity of hell, etc. Such churches have also abandoned the practice of church discipline and turned a blind eye to such things as 'cohabitation' among church members. Is it any wonder, therefore, that the general culture reflects this decline by denying the plain teaching of the Bible about marriage and God's design for human sexuality? What is happening in the culture is shameful and lamentable, but it no surprise when one considers how the fear of God and the truth of God has been excluded for so many years in so many so-called churches throughout our land. It is the logical outcome of a slow decline into apostasy.

I wonder if they have ever had a real wedding during the Rose Bowl Parade or if the organizers just consider sodomy that special.

"Professing themselves to be wise they became fools."

Satan has many friends out there who don't/can't even believe he exists along with hell where they are all headed.

Sin is a powerful influence in humanity every single person living is dominated by sin - even Christians! The difference in Christians is made by God the Holy Spirit not the mortal.

Satan and the dominant evil power of sin will take all these poor demented and depraved people, especially the Liberals, to an eternal hell damnation and suffering.

Feel sorry for the quote, "world-famous Tournament of Roses Parade" watchers and participants.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

What's bothersome to me is that they've determined that their 80M+ viewers, for the most part, will welcome the ceremony. They don't fear any large pockets of opposition, obviously, so on with the show, because so many have conformed to the new normal. Interesting also that the "wedding" will be sponsored by the very disease that kills them.

Why is this depravity being shoved down our throats? I hope all the churches in that area show up and protest, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Yet another reason why my family and I don't watch TV, except for DVDs.
