GLAAD Calls on A&E to End 'Duck Dynasty' After Phil Robertson Calls Homosexuality a Sin

Phil Robertson, one of the stars of the hit A&E show "Duck Dynasty," is making waves after an interview with GQ Magazine in which he called on America to repent for its sins, and also discussed his Christian view regarding homosexuality. Since the interview was published online, the gay activist group GLAAD has called on A&E to end its relationship with "Duck Dynasty" due to Phil's "vile, extreme" remarks.

While speaking with GQ reporter Drew Magary on the extensive Robertson property in West Monroe, La., the patriarch of the Robertson clan provided a very candid and descript account of what he and the Robertson family, as evangelical Christians, are all about.

"We're Bible-thumpers who just happened to end up on television," Robertson says in the interview. "You put in your article that the Robertson family really believes strongly that if the human race loved each other and they loved God, we ...

Chris,I read that they were Church of Christ and I think that's what they used to call Church of Christ, Cambellite. And God has given us just enough money to live comfortable and no more. We have had to trust in God for every need to be met and He has never failed us.

Good point, Dolores. I think it's a very difficult thing to be well off financially and live as Christ commands. Better to struggle, or even be poor because at least the lure of the things and people money can buy would be one less stumbling block.

I haven't looked to see what a Cambellite is yet, but like so many, maybe they are still learning and growing. For me, this whole thing is about the suppression of the truth, not their particular views on salvation, although, I hope they arrive at the correct understanding (if they are currently in error).

Stand Firm Robertsons!!!!! What country did these folks originate from? With that said ,homosexuality is not a race of people. Christians must stop apologizing for what the Bible is clear about. If A&E wants to cut u loose let them do it. But never ever change your stance on the truth. For the true Christian, persecution is expected!!

Like Paul said, sometimes God uses the foolish(in the eyes of the world) things to confound the wise(in the eyes of the world).who followed Jesus? Mostly the poor, the fishermen because those with material things seemed to trust in their riches and felt no need for God.These men are worth millions but still follow their Christ and I find that remarkable.

He should condemn worshipping idols and the setting up of the blasphemous State god on earth who determines good and evil by creating man-made commandments (laws, codes, ordinances, acts, whatever) and traditions who demands allegiance and obedience under the threat of violence. But of course something like that wouldn' t be allowed by the propaganda mouth (what the State saith), only homosexuality and abortion.

The important thing to those who miss this point is, the Robertsons are not their brand of Christian. They'd rather criticize them than look at what's going on.

After hearing rave reviews of the program, I went to the A-E website to watch it. I saw a couple shows, and one involved squirrel hunting, and making squirrel stew.
When I went back to work to talk about it, I was nearly cast out of the lunchroom by women who were horrified at the thought of eating squirrels!
My main concern was the poor image the show makes of Southerners. Why not do a reality show about Norwegian bachelor farmers in Minnesot-er? Or old hippies still living in the backwoods of Vermont and New Hampshire? But that would not make much ratings, right?
Back to the show--when someone told me they were Christians, I said I don't remember them saying anything to that effect on the shows I watched. The adults acted like immature kids; building an office onto their factory bldg when the main boss was out, and him having it torn down when he returned. There was no spirit of hard work-'working for the Lord' 'not doing eye-service'

I've watched this guy wax worse and worse over time, and it now getting to the point of lunacy. Some sort of schizophrenia, I would say.
Mod Alpha lost his salvation now simply for trying to protect the innocent, and sane from your incessant, meaningless drivel? Like someone said below, thin you're God Himself now.
You, my friend, are the one who is in danger of condemnation it seems to me. All sarcasm aside, please look into getting professional Christian councilling.

My husband said thst Phil Robertson oust Terry Bradshaw as quarterback fot the Pittsburg Steelers( my son's favorite team when he was small) so I don't think for one minute this man wii ever back down from his comment. He watched fox news last night and every show had supporters on there for this man. Maybe God put Duck Dynasty on tv for this very reason. They certaintly weren't looking for it, didn't do it for money, already made their millions from the duck call business. It reminds me of when God encourgaged Elijah to go and finish my work by anointing Elisha to continue in your place..yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth has not kissed him. This was after he wanted God to take his life while under a broom tree, instead God sent an angel( not ravens) to feed him so he could continue on. God still has His remnant to carry on His work and those around us to encouage and strenghten when we want crawl under a btoom tree.1Kings19:1-18

Yeah, that is an interesting parallel, Mohler. I think the issue with the Pope, unless I missed it somewhere is that he is indirect; whitewashing the tough questions, not unlike Joel Olsteen, and some others. Many times when these questions are "answered", the responses are worded in ways that leave question marks; leaving the topics open ended.

Another interesting parallel emerges with the timing of this controversy. The current issue of TIME magazine features Pope Francis I as “Person of the Year.” Within days of TIME’s declaration, Phil Robertson had been suspended from Duck Dynasty. Robertson’s suspension was caused by his statements that homosexual acts are sinful.

But Pope Francis is riding a wave of glowing publicity, even as he has stated in public his agreement with all that the Roman Catholic Church teaches, including its teachings on homosexual acts.

Francis has declared himself to be a “son of the church,” and his church teaches that all homosexual acts are inherently sinful and must be seen as “acts of grave depravity” that are “intrinsically disordered.”

But Pope Francis is on the cover of TIME magazine and Phil Robertson is on indefinite suspension. Such are the inconsistencies, confusions, and hypocrisies of our cultural moment.

Pretty sickening. Anyone can say anything they want against Christ and Born again Christians but don't speak out about the poor, misunderstood homosexuals. Afterall...it's not a choice.
