U.S. plan gives Jerusalem holy sites to Vatican

Secretary of State John Kerry quietly presented a U.S. plan for eastern Jerusalem that calls for an international administrative mandate to control holy sites in the area, according to informed Palestinian and Israeli diplomatic sources.

The exact composition of the international mandate is up for discussion, the sources said, but Kerry’s plan recommended a coalition that includes the Vatican, together with a group of Muslim countries such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The international arrangement is being proposed as a temporary solution for about two to three years while security arrangements in Jerusalem between Israelis and Palestinians are finalized, said the sources. ...

SteveR the Church of the "Nativity" provides endless entertainment. This shows what goes on when the Palestinians are in control When Monks Attack: Orthodox Priests Go Medieval At Church of the Nativity and I think I can find some videos of the fights at the Church of the "Holy Sepulchre" in Jerusalem. But, this article about an unpaid water bill gives some interesting background. Unholy row erupts over Church of the Holy Sepulchre's water bill Apparently the Orthodox is the big cheese in Jerusalem and oh, What's So Wrong With The Eastern Orthodox Church?.

The Orthodox and Russia would have a lot to say about religious sites in Jerusalem turned over to Vatican. One State Solution is the only way to protect various beliefs in the Middle East.

Good advice, Chris. The Vatican has wanted Jerusalem for some time, (I know nothing about the fellow who wrote this article or the site generally, just that the article itself seems to contain some useful information.) This article also includes some useful information, Encountering Peace: Negotiating Jerusalem, negotiating peace. The conclusions are a pipe-dream of course, for one thing it isn't Biblical and the Palestinians don't want peace, nor the surrounding countries.
The Christian Holy sites are already under the administration of the Franciscan Missionaries, 'The Custodian of the Holy Land.' If you ever go to Jerusalem their offices are right inside the Jaffa gate. The Franciscans are a Catholic Order and the Pope chooses the head custodian personally. The custodian does cooperate with the Orthodox partiarchs and that wouldnt change with this agreement. What would change is the administration of the Muslim sites, and Israel would like to keep the Jordanians in that position and not allow other unfriendly nations to participate

Unbelievable. Key words: temporary solution. Talk about trying to strong arm Israel, even take by force, in the name of peace, land once again that belongs to nobody but them, and to have The Muslims and Rome of all groups to become the well meaning bastions of security and peace.
The Holy Land was never important to the Muslims until they realized it was important to the Jews. 2-3 years? They'll never get it back if this is ever allowed to happen. I know it's just Kerry here, but he can't be alone. How about the Jews take over the temple mount until the extremists stop killing their women and children?
