Blind Man Files Complaint After He Says Muslim Cabbies Repeatedly Refused Service to Him and His Guide Dog

Mike Simmonds told Canada’s Sun News Network that though he has been blind for 17 years, he just adopted his service animal Graham in July. Since then, he says he’s been refused transportation three times from a local company.

When he traveled without a dog, Simmonds says he never had trouble ordering a taxi. He first took note of the difference when the dispatcher for Comfort Cabs told him he had to send him a specifically “dog-friendly” taxi, but Simmonds thought all taxis should be able to accommodate those with disabilities.

Six weeks later, a taxi sent to his home would not take him with his dog. He was told the reason was the driver’s Islamic religious beliefs. Some Muslims believe dogs are considered haram, or forbidden, under Islam. ...

I remember for example, a PBS special which covered the trials and tribulations of a Palestinian couple let in during Baby Bush years. Remember him holding hands with the Saudi leader? I wonder who John McCain is working for anyway?

But I would agree our immigration policy has been messed up since L. Johnson.

1)Correct, but the news item, on which you were commenting before going off on a link tangent, did have to do with Canada. Oh, the link had nothing to do with Bush either. Remember you brought it up?

2)The big influx of Somalis happened in the 90's. You attempted to imply it was under GWB. Do you remember who was pres for most of the 90's? If you want to drop wrong impressions among your readers, you'll have to hone up on your propaganda skills.

I think they strap a vest on them and send them on their way, judging by the accuracy and efficacy of the vast majority of jihadists.

This should be the responsibility of the cab company, not the drivers. The company should have a diverse enough workforce to accomodate these situations. Imagine if the cabbies were forced to drive dogs around... What next? Forcing people to bake cakes for gay weddings against their religious convictions? Fining people for not photographing sodomite unions? The list could go on and on.....

This has been going on for too long of time. Was it Baby-face Bush who first let in the Somalis? At the very least they should have their cabbie permits revoked, which states and cities could do, and probably would be great if a lot of them could be deported as well. Anyway, as Daniel Pipes has it, from 8 years ago, Muslim Taxi Drivers vs. Seeing-Eye Dogs. I see he just updated it just over a week ago, so perhaps he was looking at this recent incident?)
If you noticed, the news article is about a Canadian incident. I was looking for the Somali/Bush connection in the article and also the link. Is there one? Or was it a moment of anti-clarity?
