Americans losing trust in each other, poll finds
You can take our word for it. Americans don't trust each other anymore.

We're not talking about the loss of faith in big institutions such as the government, the church or Wall Street, which fluctuates with events.

For four decades, a gut-level ingredient of democracy — trust in the other fellow — has been quietly draining away.

These days, only one-third of Americans say most people can be trusted. Half felt that way in 1972, when the General Social Survey first asked the question.

Shane, your story reminds me of the story of Joseph in Genesis.

Genesis 50:20 "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive."

Its amazing how God can use mans wicked intentions to still bring him glory, however hard it may be for us to understand. Keep up the good fight brother, and God bless.

Will do, Shane, and don't ever feel like anyone here considers the horrors of life, posting those details to vent, or asking prayer for anything to be some sort of a request for pity.
People are people and will think what they want, but most on this board are filled with compassion and empathy.

Seems like trust would be basic to dealing with anyone or thing here on this earth. We trust that when we sit in a chair it will support us. We trust that when we turn the key the car will start. We trust when we reach down to pet our neighbors dog that it won't bite us. We trust that the store owner has marked his prices correctly. We trust that the postman isn't stealing our mail. We trust the restaurant is cooking our food correctly. We trust that the used car salesman isn't fudging on the truth. etc., etc.

The amount of trust is what is at issue, and our fellow human beings are giving us many reasons to be skeptical. I remember when we moved to this area nearly 30 years ago. People didn't lock their doors, they left their keys in their vehicles (even the fancy new ones) and nobody met a stranger. (although more than likely nobody stranger than I)
Coming from the Chicago area this was quite a culture shock. That has all changed, people don't leave houses unlocked and keys in cars. The Scripture (II Timothy 3:13) says the will go from bad to worse, just another sign we are in the end times.

Shane, we are all in your shoes, by the grace of God will be keeping you and others in our prayers.

When I was in 5th grade me and my family were every Sunday mormons. In the spring of that year my 1 year old sister drown in our pool while my dad was watching her and my other sister. I always had a picture in my mind of what my dad must have gone through(terrible). Within 6 months from that a man came into our home early in the morning (after my dad went to go to the mormon church of all things) and raped my mother( I will spare the details of what I heard and saw). It turned my family upside down. I don't tell this story to get pity. I tell it because, without these things happening, I don't think we would have knowledge of God. I would not have sought his face. There is no such thing as nature taking it's course or something like that. God uses all things for his good. We truly can not wrap our heads around that.

No commands, but trust and trustworthiness are biblical and desirous qualities. A handshake and a promise to repay a debt means nothing now a days. According to a more elderly friend of mine, he bought a car on a handshake saying that he would repay.

Personally, if we can't trust the sinless Savior then why would we trust deceitful man prone to sin. (Specifically lying in regards to trust.). Of course, I won't pretend that seeing people doesn't help a lot far as trusting them. Partially why trusting God is hard sometimes is because we are such visible people. Besides, if we didn't cons from God, and really evolved as the majority of people are being taught (dogmatically I might add,) then there is no reason to true people who are finally realizing that if they don't have to answer to a creator, then they can do what most benefits them. Basically, catching up to the hitker, Mao Zedong, and Stalin trains of thought on a national level and much smaller extent.

God does not command us to trust anyone but him,my trust in regard to others is mine to give or withhold,it is not owed anyone and anyone who is offended by my caution I don't deal with...it has been my experience that if you meet someone and they tell you how honest they are that usually winds up being the first lie they tell you.

Maybe Torgel is a Reformation in Progress, and has not quite got there yet, Mike. Especially with a name like that.

Anyway, good point, even though you do not believe it.

Matt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Interesting points, and all worth meditating on. However, I do not believe God deals with nations as nations, that is, what he does to one he does to all. A faithful man surely will remain faithful, no matter where he lives?

open borders and "if you see something say something".... its kind of been paranoid way of dong business for years.

a community where people have common language and culture, make their own foods and industry (jobs), a church that has a strong testimony, these are the things a centralized individual-less, jobless society cannot produce.
