Syrian Christians flee persecution as Patriarch urges them to stay in war-torn country
As some 450,000 Christians have fled Syria since a civil war erupted two years ago, the Syrian Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic church has called on Christians to stay in Syria and survive a ‚Äúdifficult‚ÄĚ future.
"I say to my children, stay in your country, the future will be difficult, but it will be better, God willing," Syrian Patriarch Gregory Laham told AFP in an interview.
On the eve of a trip to the Vatican for meetings with Pope Francis, Laham urged European countries to not "encourage Syrian Christians to emigrate."
"I say to the European countries that want to help, help people in difficulty, humanitarian cases but don't encourage people to emigrate," he said....
I don't find it strange, except for American politics being contradictory. President Obama has (at least had) people like Senator McCain pushing for the American government to be much, much more active in supporting these rebels! as you can see the situation in Syria is complex! Jihadis may want to kill Assad. But is he lucky to have them?.
Oh, for people looking for a Church to go to this Christmas in the Chicago area, see my message that was before Pen me confused!
Jim, you don't find it interesting that are openly funding the rebels who are eliminating the Christians at the same time being told to step up NSA/surveillance of ourselves because of the groups we are funding? if this doesn't violate your conscience, why are you so offended by the muhs that you fund??? natural oil, you know?
No, the idea of the Mossad, has anything to do with the problems of the nominal Christians perhaps isn't funny except in being so how ridiculous it is, No this YouTube is amusing and accurate, the One State Solution. But a fellow from Chicago mentioned that idea.
No, the fighting between Muhammadans isn't funny, and seem to be able to find people of other religions to kill, when they aren't killing each other.

I was reading that text in a sermon recently and it was pointed out Paul not only counted all things loss for the excellency of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord (speculatively) but "for whom I have suffered the loss of all things" he (practically) suffered the loss of all things.
Last evening Mr. Manton reminded me in Jude that angels who are so humble that they cover their faces when close to the magnificent glory and obey perfectly his commands, and are ministering spirits to the saints who long to look into this mystery of Christ's love for his people; these higher creatures are watching my response to relay to God Omniscient who knows not only my response in words or deed but even my thoughts. It reminded me that my constant deportment must be viewed in that light as I encounter railing and the spoiling of my goods. I long for holiness without which I will not see the Lord. I am very much aware of my great ignorance of Christ or I would not be so tossed by what men think, say or do. Philippians 3:10 Heb 12:1-6

I believe idolatry continued in and not repented of, is worshiping and serving the creature rather than the Creator, or reprobation. God is Spirit and cannot be represented by anything visible, pictures included. He condemns idolatry clearly in the 2nd Commandment. Scripture tells us that Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature while stating in 1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Christ's image is comprehended by faith in what is written.
In the judgment of charity, and thinking it possible there were some Christians in Syria, I quoted the previous verses and made the observation that I did. I was not pronouncing idolaters Christians. It has been a personal trial of my faith to hold that position in standing against idolatry, transubstantiation, in particular and holy days other than the Christian Sabbath or Lord's Day. It has caused most of my family to disown me and bear false witness against me in public judicature. The west is weak, but Christ is sufficient.
....and yet there are evangelicals getting eradicated too, and this is a muslem country in which freedom of association is not like ours, the Baptists have pulled out of some difficult areas of the ME leaving the harder work to others to continue. the west is refusing to represent her fellow believers because she is in a far worse state than Syrian Christians.... many, many accounts of believers using many opportunities for Christ's name to be known in this, praise God for the persecuted church.
The Roman Catholic Church shares many basic tenets with evangelical Protestants such as: the doctrine of the Trinity, the inspiration of the Bible, the deity of Christ, and His virgin birth, atoning death and bodily resurrection. However, there are many other tenets in which the Catholic Church differs from other Christians, many of which became historically relevant during the Reformation. Most significant are: ‚ÄĘits understanding of justification, which denies the Protestant doctrine of justification through faith alone by grace alone ‚ÄĘits understanding of the relationship between Tradition and Scripture which denies the Protestant doctrine that Scripture takes precedence over church teaching and tradition. ‚ÄĘits mediatorial priesthood and the theology of its Mass. ‚ÄĘits beliefs surrounding Mary and the saints.
Some on this board think that the religion of popery is Christan. So if they believe that Jesus is God and they have pictures of him? and pray to Mary and the saints and have a sacrifice of the mass to appease the father daily and pray to dead bones belonging to whoever that they are fine because they believe Jesus is God. Never mind the bible condemns all of the above ..just as long as they are sincere in believing Jesus is God we are to recognize them as Christian. So....whatever happened to Repent and Believe the Gospel?????
Umm...when did it become a custom to avoid saying that people who worship idols are going to hell? Why do we avoid such declarations using scripture to back up our claims that whe shouldn't even when the scriptures clearly teach a condemnation to sinners who won't repent? Condemnation and hell is a PART of the Gospel! If we do preach to men the condemnation of sin AND sinners then they will severely miss the point of the SAVIOR. Please brethren, also, if the first thought in your head is "what about Gods love" consider these facts: if there is NO GREATER LOVE than he who LAYS DOWN HIS LIFE for his friends (John 15:13), in Christs case his suffering under the severe wrath and holy hatred of God for a time to purchase a condemned and lost people from the penalty of sin, why do we persist in robbing Christ of His ascribed glory by separating Gods love apart from his hatred of sin expressed at Calvaries cross? Brethren do not be deceived our Gospel has two sides: one is the expression of Gods love toward sinners by lifting up the Son in an agonizing death IN OUR PLACE, the other is a clear condemnation and public display of THE PENALTY FOR SIN exhibited in the Cross for SINNERS WHO DO NOT REPENT AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL. Brethren I say this in love, we must believe both sides of the
Matthew 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
Proverbs 27:10 Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
It would seem that if the Christian's submission is first to Christ, then his submission to the powers that be, is related to their submission to Christ. In this case it would seem to me wisdom from the word to seek a neighbor or neighboring city. Bashar Assad and the Patriarch's heart are in the Lord's hand and he directs their hearts as the water courses whatsoever way that he will.
If God's word is upheld by the powers that be, well, but a Christian's king is Christ, no matter where he lives and he must weigh all in the balance of the sanctuary as Mr. Manton said in his sermon of Heb. 11:26.
The Patriarch's Urging Of His Fellow Syrians To Stay In Syria; Is Based On His Nationalistic Ferver & Willful Submission & Obedience (Via Romans 13) To The Present Syrian Administration Of Bashar Assad.
THE REAL "DEVILS" BEHIND THE CHAOS GOING ON IN SYRIA ARE THE ISRAELI-MOSSAD--U.S.-CIA--NATO-BACKED 'REBELS'; WHICH CONSIST OF TERRORIST-MOHAMMEDAN-FANATICS LIKE AL-QAEDA & ETC. !
The GRAVE ERROR Of The Patriarch Is To Appeal To THE SATANIC ROMAN VATICAN "JESUIT"-'POPE' FRANCIS-1 For Support & Help; As, The Vatican Is Covertly IN FULL-CONFERDERACY WITH THE ISRAELI-MOSSAD--U.S.-CIA--NATO-BACKED "REBELS": WHO CONSIST OF AL-QAEDA & OTHER MOHAMMEDAN-TERRORISTS !
The "GREEK 'CATHOLIC' CHURCH" In The Middle-East Has Historically Submitted Itself To THE ROMAN 'PAPACY': As Opposed To The "GREEK 'ORTHODOX' CHURCH" In The Middle-East & Abroad; Which, Is Subject To THE GREEK ORTHODOX PATRIARCH In GREECE & NOT THE "POPE" IN ROME !
*THE GREAT SCHISM BETWEEN EASTERN-"GREEK"-ORTHODOXY & WESTERN-'ROMAN'-"CATHOLICISM" IS STILL IN EFFECT TODAY; AS, THE MAJOR EASTERN-ORTHODOX-CHURCHES REFUSE TO SUBMIT TO THE "POPE" IN ROME: ESPECIALLY THE RUSSIAN-ORTHODOX-CHURCH, THE GREEK-ORTHODOX-CHURCH, THE SERBIAN-ORTHODOX-CHURCH, THE SYRIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH & ALL GENERAL EASTERN-ORTHODOX-CHRISTIANTY !
