‘Francis effect’ pulls crowds back to church

POPE FRANCIS has inspired a surge in attendances and confessions in the Roman Catholic Church, reversing decades of decline.

In the eight months since he was chosen, cathedrals in Britain have seen a rise of about 20% in congregations, drawing in both new and lapsed members.

More than half of the priests surveyed in Italy said there had been a rise in support for the church. In Spain, the church has halted a decade-long slump in attendance.

Apparently you are using this parable in the sense that it should encourage us to "forgive" the Roman Catholics for their sins.

Are the Roman Catholics going to repent of their idolatry and other heresies any time soon? Somehow I doubt that.

When a Roman Catholic leaves the darkness of the papal antichrists shackles and becomes a real Christian then the Lord forgives him and so shall we and rejoice.

What we are showing the Roman Catholics at present is that their religion is unbiblical, idolatrous, blasphemous and heretical. Therefore as the Lord ordained the Reformation in the 16th century that HIS disciples should escape from the clutches of the papal antichrist; - Thus should we reveal the error of their ways and invite them to join the real Church and Biblical religion.

Forgiveness comes after repentance - Not during the continuity of sin.

What 'YOU' must do is teach the fallacy and heresy of Roman Catholic religion and invite them to change to Biblical doctrine.

I gotta go, so I will agree with the critique on RCC idolatry. But I think thats not what motivates the daily hysteria directed against the RCC. I feel the RCC hurt some people on this board, and hurt them badly. I just offer this before I go.

Pleasr read Matt 18:23-35

Matthew 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
...Matthew 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Steve, if you adamantly refuse to believe in the doctrine of transubstantiation, you are declared anathema by the very people you are trying to defend. A few hundred years ago, in England, you would have been burnt at the stake.

Oh.....

But I forgot....

You DO believe in the salvation by works of the RCC, and you are right pally with popey, being a papist and all.

God describes the Roman Catholics as "deaf" "dumb" and "blind" ....

"Psalm 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them."

v4 RC idols "work of men's hands"
v5 Dumb and blind
v6 Deaf and cannot use their senses.
v7 Restricted even in normal movement
v8 Quote; "They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them."

1Timothy 6:3-5 "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, EVEN THE WORDS OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and to THE DOCTRINE WHICH IS ACCORDING TO GODLINESS;
4 He is proud knowing nothing, doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing gain is godliness: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF.

As you can see john, we are to avoid those teach false doctrines, and don't consent to the words of Jesus, which the RCC clearly is guilty of. Paul said withdraw thyself. Read this passage over a few times, and you will see that its time to leave the RCC.

Boy how arrogant can anybody be to state categorically that I am not saved and am not trusting in Jesus alone for salvation just because I attend the RCC? The only requirement for salvation is to trust in Jesus alone for salvaiton. Church attendance and membership in any church including Evangelical Protestant Churches is not required for salvation. My brother and his Non Denominational minister accept that I am saved because I trust in Jesus alone for salvation because they are not insane and they are not adding requirements onto the only requirement for salvation like you are adding.
Now, now, John Y.

You know very well that I hardly ever comment to you and never.... never have I accused you, or anyone else for that matter, of not being saved. Yet you accuse me of being "arrogant" and imply that I'm "insane". Is that any way for a Christian (your profession) to treat another Christian?

My sole accusation to you in my recent posts is that you are guilty of intentional misrepresentation (lying) of your beliefs to the RCC you attend. And now add to that, deliberate misrepresentation (lying) of my comment.

As Chris rightly pointed out, you would be excommunicated if you were honest with your priest hence, dishonest (liar).

John Y. If you have come to Christ as a hell deserving sinner, asked for his mercy, called upon his holy name, and sincerely asked for his free gift of eternal life and putting all your faith and trust in his finished work, then your saved.

I know people like to kick around the ol' catholic but I'm sure there's some that are saved. Some keep in attendance because it's family tradition or so.

Hi John Y, I'd like you to try and keep something in the back of your head about what the church, and every priest expects and presumes of you and every single person in attendance when it come to church doctrine....remember, they don't only assume that you subscribe to every single doctrine, but they require it, by pain of eternal damnation. According to Rome, if any Roman Catholic fails to beileve in even the least of their doctrines, they are ananthema, for all eternity. I'll leave the rest of the post to you, but wanted to remind you of this again since you stated that it's stupid to believe that priests assume...

It is not logical for the priest or others in attendance at the RCC to assume that I subscribe to all RCC doctrines. That is stupid. I don't assume that all RC's subscribe to all RCC doctrines. It is no business of my priest and others in attendance what my beliefs are. And thus it is not deception to not make my priest cognizant of something that is none of his business in the first place that I don't subscribe to all RCC doctrines. My Born Again Non Denominational brother accepts I am saved because I trust in Jesus alone for salvation even if I attend the RCC.

Galatians 6:14-15 KJV
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

A new creature? Aye.

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A sinner is an "old creature" and a saint is a "new creature".

What does the new creature glory in?

The Cross.

What does the Cross crucify?

The Cross crucified our Saviour, who was both Priest and Sacrifice for Sin.

When I have an interest in his blood, the Cross crucifies the world to me.

When I have an interest in his blood, the Cross crucifies me to the world.

There is far more going on at the Cross than people imagine.

Galatians 2:20 KJV
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Yep!

It's not just a matter of doctrine- if you boil Christianity down to a list of I believe this or that then a fundamentalist can be just as in error as the most idolatrous catholic...

Ezekiel 36

26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
