Top Catholic Scholars Slam Common Core

As the uproar grows against the Obama administration-pushed Common Core nationalized education standards, a coalition of more than 130 prominent Catholic scholars and professors outlined its firm opposition to the scheme and is now asking U.S. bishops to reverse the advance of the controversial reforms among American Catholic schools. Already, more than half of U.S. dioceses have replaced Catholic teaching traditions by adopting the dubious national standards, they said. However, the fight is far from over, and many of the nation’s top Catholic education experts are working hard to turn the tide and undo the damage being inflicted under Common Core.

Among other concerns highlighted in a letter to church leaders from 132 Catholic scholars, the educators warn that the scheme, which they said represents a ‚Äúradical shift,‚ÄĚ is really a ‚Äústep backwards‚ÄĚ in terms of education. Beyond the particulars of ...

hmm, Catholic educators are ignoramuses? Now that's no surprise. No doubt many homeschoolers will use the Common Core as a guideline to teach their children, and depart from it, where it conflicts with Christianity. As far as Romish parochial schools are concerned,
Mike Gendron wrote:
That the Roman Catholic Church has been one of the most powerful influences in the history of all civilization cannot be seriously denied....

[Nevertheless] It is my contention and my sincere conviction, from my experience in the Catholic educational system, my life of fifteen years in the priesthood, and thirteen years of constant observation and intense study since leaving the Church, that its influence on all civilization has been far more of evil than of good....

Morally, this book will show the high rate of crime and sin among Roman Catholics everywhere, and particularly in the United States. It will also demonstrate that this immorality is not in spite of Catholic education and training, but directly because of it. ---Emmett McLoughlin

excerpt from, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No.

So one group of false teachers objects to the curriculum of another. This reminds me of Bismarck's Kulturkampf.

Catholics love Western Civ, they say, but they hate its only worthwhile product: the Reformation. So do many Fundies & so-called Protestants.

True penny, sad when the heretical Catholics are more vocal concerning political and moral issues, then true Christianity. I have heard a few Protestant voices on AFR, so at least there are some. We are gonna homeschool our kids, so they can do what they want with publican schools.

Instead of worrying about common core, the Catholics need to worry about their doctrines of devils that are damnable heresies. These heresies will ultimately lead to their eternal demise, lest they repent and embrace true Christianity, which teaches salvation by faith alone, NOT WORKS!
