Minister faces church trial for officiating same-sex marriage
About 50 ministers gave their symbolic support to a colleague facing sanctions from the United Methodist Church by participating in a same-sex wedding.
The wedding Saturday in Philadelphia was held about a week before the Reverend Frank Schaefer of Lebanon, about 90 miles to the west, will face a church trial for officiating over his son's marriage to another man.
The clergy filled the front of the Arch Street United Methodist Church, blessing the marriage in defiance of church law, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The closest rested their hands on the couple, Bill Gatewood and Rick Taylor. The others placed their palms on other clergy. "Those whom God has joined together, let no one put asunder," they said in unison....
Im not surprised that post was removed, as we have so many unBiblical pre trip rapturists on this site. Yes, the whole theology was spawned from the DREAM of a young girl named Marge MacDonald circa 1830. The Plymouth Brethren embraced the demonic lie to justify their seperation from actual Christians. The Plymouth Brethren were much like this board, pointing fingers at all denominations and claiming they werent Christian. Like the Cathars of centuries before, they devised their own seductive myths to beguile their reprobates. Yes, while Methodists and Anglicans were faithfully spreading the Gospel, Jim Lincolns people were devising schemes that would beguile the masses. In this current day Protestants denominations are falling left and right, but that doesnt mean they were not faithful in the past.
Anne, the Methodist Church is the fruit of the Anglican tree, and it didn't fall far from it. It too, except for the prelacy of Bishops, I think the Methodist Conferences replaced that, idea somewhat, this could very well define the Methodist Church. "The faith of Anglicans is founded in the scriptures, the traditions of the apostolic church, the apostolic succession â "historic episcopate" and the early Church Fathers...." Anglicanism. Scripture is something of an afterthought for both churches.
"The clergy filled the front of the Arch Street United Methodist Church, blessing the marriage in defiance of church law," said the article.
"Church law"?! I think this should be a clue as to their deprived idea that homosexual unions are ok. Church law, huh. I always thought it was God's Law!
To be expected though... "For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new." (2 Timothy 4:3)
The vile and evil poison of Liberalism is destroying churches and denominations. Thus sin has become more acceptable than Holy Scripture. These counterfeit churches and Christians are paying homage to Satan - forcing Bible out of the church and blaspheming against God.
Psalm 140:8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah. 9 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. 10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. 11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. 12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
