Israel raises minimum marriage age to 18

Israel's legal marriage age was increased from 17 to 18 on Monday night, the Knesset voted overwhelmingly in favor of the measure.

Haredi MKs spoke out against the bill, which is meant to prevent teenagers from being forced into marriages when they are too young to make decisions that will impact the rest of their lives.

In some cases, such as teen pregnancy, a court can allow an exception for those over age 16.

MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) said the law discriminates against haredim. ...

The suggested sermons. 1 is about marriage.

The rest about homosexuality.

It might seem as though even marriage here has to be defended?

I would defend it, but I do think its on its way out. I would up the age to around 21 in all honesty.

You know that would be my response to, UPS, because SteveR who seems to have an attraction to the Romish Church. If that is the case he really shouldn't've make that statement. Because priests are calling down Christ--this is nonsense--of course when performing the usual [Black] Mass. So, God is subservient to the Romish priests, according to them.

Some sermons that deal with the Romish priesthood, The Inadequacy of the Levitical [and Roman Catholic!] Priesthood and The Superiority of Christ's Priesthood. In many ways these sermons deal with The Scandal of the Catholic Priesthood.

Thanks for all the comments. SteveR had a good comment, which points us back to a previous thread about do miracles still happen, but I digress, but he fell one verse short. Ephesians 5:21 (KJV) "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God." Don't get me wrong,
SteveR and Lisa said it correctly about the Biblical order, not disputing that, but we are to obey all of the Word of God, so yes, husbands are to submit to wives in the fear of God.
I know one thing, if we husbands would love our wives as Christ loved the church, for the most part, spousal submission would be a non issue. God Bless.
Sorry
While that has the modern politically correct warm and fuzzies about it, the truth is that God does not submit to the Church. The authentic Church submits to GOD, likewise a faithful wife submits to her loving husband.

Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

No doubt very few, Chris. I would also add, U.S. divorce rates for various faith groups, age groups, & geographic areas from which, "While it may be alarming to discover that born again Christians are more likely than others to experience a divorce, that pattern has been in place for quite some time. Even more disturbing, perhaps, is that when those individuals experience a divorce many of them feel their community of faith provides rejection rather than support and healing. But the research also raises questions regarding the effectiveness of how churches minister to families. The ultimate responsibility for a marriage belongs to the husband and wife, but the high incidence of divorce within the Christian community challenges the idea that churches provide truly practical and life-changing support for marriages."

Feel very strongly that the positions within a marriage such that husband is head of the wife is so essential- how can marriages last when the natural order is not kept. Totally agree husband head of the house and wife submits

Husband SERVES
Wife SUBMITS

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Ephesians 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Ephesians 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

No doubt their are exceptions everywhere. We had a couple of Iraqi men thrown into prison because they "married" 14 & 15 (or was 13 & 14) year old girls with of course their parent's consent, which I would have supposed they received a little something for Neither America and especially Great Britain are Christian countries, so as I pointed out girls need protection.

I wonder how this bill has faired in Great Britain, UK bill moves to limit power of Sharia Courts? C. congratulations on your marriage and Lisa sounds like your parents had an excellent one two Instructions to Husbands, Fathers and Their Wives.

Marriage is the normal state of Man, one who can support a wife. So, while the single life may be correct for a few men, To Tie the Knot or Not: A Biblical Study of Marriage and the Single Life, this is not the typical situation. The main problem when even parental consent is given, the girl can be too young, way too young in Islamic families and actually being child abuse, Islam and the suffering of women, So, Israel has basically taken the correct step, Minimum marriage age to rise to 18 YNET.

Again, besides the free e-Booklet above, bringing the topic closer to home, State-by-State Legal Age Marriage Laws.
