Evangelical 'Hell Houses' Still a Thing This Year, Now With Additional Creepiness

For prices around $299.00, it is once again possible this year to buy a Hell House Kit for creating your own moralist haunted house. Halloween is a longtime bogeyman, if you will, for various churches, which criticize the holiday for what some congregations deem to be connections to devil worship. Never one to miss a marketing opportunity, the late televangelist Jerry Falwell hit on the idea of encouraging church communities to construct haunted houses anyway.

Not that the New Testament isn't a pretty good ghost story, but hell houses typically define sin less biblically than legislatively. In most hell houses you'll be scared not by a ghost, but a vision of a woman bleeding to death from between her legs—she's terminated a pregnancy, and now presumably pays Satan's price. The anti-gay streak in the Hell House narratives tends to be strong too. ...

Well there is slight possibility that there is a holocaust survivor who celebrates Hitler's birthday. Nuttier things have happened.

Actually, to attach the name of Christ with the word "Mass", a pagan and heathenistic
ritual, is but to pollute the Holy name of our God.

I celebrate the birth of Christ, Emmanuel, every year, and the resurrection of Christ. These are my holy days. I remember this every day of the year, but especially once a year, that they were real events in the history of mankind and that God has sustained His message of salvation over many centuries. I love to hear choirs sing in celebration of the two greatest events of all history.

Said like a true Romanist sympathiser.

What is Christianised...NOTHING!

It was an actual event on a November 5th.

Christianising Xmas by Romanists on 25th December...well prove Christ was born on that day from the Bible!

Completely different or should we never celebrate God's historical providential deliverances as I can name a few!

Agree that THE LORD has blessed the KJV...but not the KJ ONLYISM that is exported from the USA.

KJV for the right reasons see The Trinitarian Bible Society or these 5 sermons from this current series on SA the KJV by Rev Hamilton

The bonfire is a memorial of God's providential deliverance of England from a catholic plot which would have resulted in a Papist on the throne and possibly more persecution and martydom.
It is a remembrance of God's doings not Samhein's or a papist victory.

I agree that we must ( not it would be a good idea, but MUST) teach the kids about the dangers of Catholicism- the inquisition, the role that the pope had in the holocaust, the gunpowder plot, the Spanish armada, bloody Mary and the English martyrs- but there
Is a suggestion that bonfire night is pagan and so I personally would not want to risk offending my god. It's not in the bible so like Christmas and Easter I would leave it well alone for that reason. But interested to hear what you think after googling those links below-

Today the whole scenario would have little to do with remembering God's deliverance so yes best give it a wide berth.

Will you study the Trinitarian Bible Society website on the KJV!!!

Maybe you should see a psychiatrist?

How could it be celebrating a festival of Samhain when it is an anniversary of the the gunpowder plot and was instituted by parliament for the 5th of November?

I don't celebrate it but have no objection to the Northampton Council teaching the truth at KS2 level

Search: Gunpowder, Treason and Plot - Northamptonshire County Council ...

All children should know the facts of the papist plot and bonfire night is not condemned in the Bible is it as long as it is a memorial of God over turning a satanic plot!

Murder is condemned and so is a counterfeit gospel!

Well these guys in Sussex celebrate ( bonfire society's) and historians claim that the festivals origins has its roots in Samhain a pre Christian winter festival. The festival of Samhain is still celebrated as a Wiccan festival.
Lisa, you are right about the pagan origins of Samhain, celebrated at sundown on October 31st, which later merged with All Hallows Eve and became known as Halloween.

But it has nothing to do with Bonfire Night, as already mentioned.

I never liked bonfire night- even as a kid. My mum made a guy Fawkes doll for me and I was totally traumatised when she burnt it on our bonfire. It's very prevalent here in the uk - this week there will be bonfires everywhere. I can't think that burning an effigy on a bonfire is a very Christian thing to do. It feels very pagan ??

an anti catholic festival
Lisa, you should hate Popery and you should be anti-Catholic (but loving individual blinded RC's) and you should be familiar with the Protestant History of your country.
Why were our reformers burned?

Remember, remember the fifth of November, Gunpowder, treason and plot. We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

Guy Fawkes, guy, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow

By god's mercy he was catch'd
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring. Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.
And what shall we do with him? Burn him!

In 1605 an Act of Parliament called The Observance of the 5th November Act. The Act was created by Puritan sympathiser Edward Montagu of Boughton, a former MP for Northamptonshire, and called for an annual thanksgiving celebrating the failure of the plot and the deliverance of the King – better known today as Bonfire Night!

Remember the plot was to return popery to the throne and to England. Read J C Ryle above and ponder!

Have a confession to make- I was reading the bbc website this evening and came upon an article which described some uk area celebrating a festival we have in uk ( don't think yu have it in the USA) called bonfire night, and half way through it alluded to its pagan basis and so have done some research into this....as would have thought nothing about celebrating this as its superficially an anti catholic festival but like most non biblical festivals is actually syncretic with paganism...so forgive me I guess at times god has our eyes opened to pagan basis of what is going on around us. I guess it's all to do with motive ????
Now you got me thinking. If a bonfire is a big fire with pagan overtones, and I build a small fire in a woodstove, would that be a small pagan thing?

GS, I just had to stop by to comment on what a great thing your wife did. I love how she took charge; trying to reverse any potential damage...damage control. We just never know how the little things we do may impact someone whether in the here and now, or down the line.
