Air Force Academy may drop ‘God’ from oath

The Air Force Academy is considering dropping the phrase “so help me God’ from its honor oath after the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) filed a complaint.

The Academy’s Honor Review Committee met Wednesday to review the oath in response to the MRFF complaint, said Public Affairs Director Maj. Brus Vidal.

“They considered a range of options and some of those options will be presented to Academy leaders and, ultimately, the Academy Superintendent for a decision,” he said.

The current version of the Academy’s oath reads: “We will not lie, steal or cheat nor tolerate among us anyone who does. Furthermore, I resolve to do my duty and live honorably, so help me God.” ...

UPS, you noted the Bible verses what do they say? I have also put up in the later thread .... I might as well do it again...God's Character in Action.

I have supported the military, I don't see anything anti-Christian in serving it, however, taking an excerpt from,

Amer. Tract Dictionary (1859) wrote:
...The oaths forbidden in Mt 5:34-35 Jas 5:12, must refer to the unthinking, hasty, and vicious practices of the Jews; otherwise Paul would have acted against the command of Christ, Ro 1:9 Ga 1:20 2Co 1:23. That person is obliged to take an oath whose duty requires him to declare the truth in the most solemn and judicial manner; though undoubtedly oaths are too often administered unnecessarily and irreverently, and taken with but slight consciousness of the responsibility thus assumed. As we are bound to manifest every possible degree of reverence towards God, the greatest care is to be taken that we swear neither rashly nor negligently in making promises. To neglect performance is perjury, unless the promise be contrary to the law of nature and of God; in which case no oath is binding....
I'm glad the Academy made it voluntary, A simple, "Yes," from a Christian should be enoug

They might actually be doing what Christians and Jews they have there a favor, by not calling God's name in vain?
They didn't drop the oath, just put an option on saying so help me God. Surely you are not saying it is blasphemous to acknowledge you need God's help to fulfill your responsibilities? Even the apostle Paul said I am what by the grace of God.

"Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, ..:" Acts 26:22

Also I would suggest you do some research on oaths back in Biblical times, for instance when it tells us that Peter began to curse and swear it undoubtedly meant he was saying more oaths not that he was using expletives

God has already "dropped" the air force academy and all other reprobate institutions.

However the prognosis which this symptom reveals is that God may also "drop" America.

Psalm 55:23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
