Pope suspends German 'bling bishop'

His new private residence will cost €31m and include a €15,000 bathtub, furnishings worth €380,000 and a garden that came with a €783,000 bill. But the "bling bishop" of Limburg is unlikely ever to enjoy the benefits of his luxurious new home, after he was temporarily suspended from his post by the pope yesterday.

In a press statement, the Vatican said it had been confronted with a situation in which Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst "could not follow his duty as bishop" and had decided to allow him "some time outside the diocese". A final verdict on the bishop's future is expected after the completion of an internal investigation into the Limburg building project.

Tebartz-van Elst has come under increasing criticism since the estimated cost of his new residence – described by some newspapers as "palatial" – rose to €31m (£26m) earlier this month. ...

I would hope many would know that quite a few Catholic bishops are guilty of more than living high off the hog. wow that is bad enough, many worse things happen. For example, this is an interesting 12/2 min. YouTube about how some bishops have covered up for sexual abusing priests. It will also tell you how, SNAP was founded, q.v., SNAP---Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, this is interesting in itself. Anyway, the YouTube is: Abuse Documentary: The Shame of the Catholic Church | Retro Report | The New York Times (12.5 min YouTube). In the following video, which isn't a YouTube, Secrets of the Vatican (video) are well worth viewing.

Well, this golden boy, just got his hat handed to him at least in Germany, Vatican removes Germany's 'bishop of bling'. I guess only a former Catholic or one that hasn't made the Pilgrimage From Rome, can tell use what adoration Catholics give their Bishops, many are treated as a shaman/guru they aren't from the article:

His Unholiness,...'asks the faithful of the diocese of Limburg to accept the decisions of the [Un]Holy See with docility and to commit themselves to rediscovering an atmosphere of charity and reconciliation," the Vatican statement said.'

Not that the Pope is any winner either, Jesus Christ, Our One & Only High Priest and Requirements of Every High Priest.

What GS! you didn't hear how well the humble Pope Uriah I (Heep) is living! Some good sermons on Frannie, Jesus Christ, Our One & Only High Priest and
Requirements of Every High Priest

While this article is fairly good, The bishops of bling will fight for their things. This Pope hasn't declared war on extravagance in any big way, and all the "Bling" Bishop got was a leave of absence with pay.

Perhaps the Pope should give up his lavish lifestyle as well. Just saying.
