John McArthur vs. The Charismatic Church

Michael Brown, writer and journalist for Charisma News and Charisma Magazine, has penned a piece asking John MacArthur, world renown bible teacher, Pastor and author, to recant his strong stand against the Charismatic Church and reign in the harsh words that he uses to describe their doctrine, dogma and philosophy.

As always my desire is for you to know the truth and many of you are already aware that I am NOT a fan of the Charismatic Church or their doctrines. Of course theirs is not the only doctrine gone astray from scripture, but since this is the topic at hand, I will stick to the Charismatic Church vs. the ultra-Conservative John MacArthur. According to Michael Brown, it is now an all out war.

John MacArthur points out in his book Charismatic Chaos and in his upcoming book Strange Fire that the Apostolic gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer in operation or are a part of the modern day ...

Go back over this thread. You'll find it was haughtily implied that I fit into the category of worldly and wicked. I made no comment of haughtiness on your part. Is everything about you? Perhaps easily offended does apply? But as you say, I don't see your heart. Nor you mine, so "ignorant and arrogant ad hominems" might be overkill for someone who is deeply concerned about edification and unloving dialogue. The funny part is, I don't recall many complaints about nasty posts on my part.
If you review the thread, you will find the following led to your hurt feelings
1) "Christian Zionism" was labeled an oxymoron
2) I agreed with the Pastor
3) MikePA responded with a common worldly response.
4) You sympathized with MikePA
5) I reminded you that the world also responds to Christian admonishment with the accusation that Christians arent 'loving when they point out sin'

There is NOTHING Christian about taking the scissors to the Bible, encouraging unbelieving Israelis to shed blood OR dispossessing Palestinians from their homes. And if your feeling are hurt, then its for the better because you might learn something

But I am a hypocrite on this matter, as you have so rightly pointed out, and I knew I was when I wrote it (at least to some extent). My apologies to you and perhaps I should just not comment anymore on this site, seeing that I am the perpetrator of my own criticism. Or at least be willing to see all the facts. So Mike, please forgive me, I am a complete moron (BTW, thank you for lovingly dealing with my stupidity)...
You should continue to comment, Michael, and be welcome to do so. The body is made up of many parts, all of which are needed, and none of which fit into the category of "moron" or "stupid." (1 Cor. 12)

As an aside, if you have ever sharpened iron, you know that the sharpening process often starts out a little harsh. As the iron develops a keen edge, a gentler touch is needed.

A good example of how the worldly respond when Christians admonish them for their wickedness
Among the worldly are the haughty and the easily offended. It might be better if both were to get over themselves. "Iron sharpeneth iron" hardly conveys a soft soothing picture.

Is there another New Covenant promise just for ethnic Jews?

Marok S., I tend to agree with you. For our non-dispensational users of SA, What does Christ as “true Israel” mean for the nation Israel?: a critique of the non-dispensational understanding (PDF). Besides Dr. Vlach's excellent article the one by Dr. Ice is well worth reading -- Is Modern Israel Fulfilling Prophecy? As Scofield said for introduction for Romans 11:
C. I. Scofield wrote:
That Israel has not been forever set aside is the theme of this chapter.
(1) The salvation of Paul proves that there is still a remnant (ro 11:1)
(2) The doctrine of the remnant proves it (ro 11:2-6).
(3) The present national unbelief was foreseen (ro 11:7-10).
(4) Israel's unbelief is the Gentile opportunity (ro 11:11-25).
(5) Israel is judicially broken off from the good olive tree, Christ (ro 11:17-22).
(6) They are to be grafted in again (ro 11:23,24).
(7) The promised Deliverer will come out of Zion and the nation will be saved (ro 11:25-29). That the Christian now inherits the distinctive Jewish promises is not taught in Scripture....

Amen Rev Garrett
While I have found a few with sincere faith in that camp, its essentially a faith desert. So much so I now use the term 'Kristian Zionist' when referencing them. The persecuted have become the persecutors....

May the LORD Bless your ministry in Nepal,

theological prejudice would describe a lot of what is amiss in today's modern churches.

IMHO modern churches really don't want God as He really is a HOLY God coming and messing up what they want to do (or seek to get away with) - sure they would like to (ab)use God to promote their own agenda/opinions and advance and build their own kingdoms

Basically again IMHO we desperately need some serious REPENTANCE and fervent seeking of God to come and fix us until He makes us the people we ought to have been all along in our faith (The Faith He Himself authors in/by His word and His Spirit, the faith He Himself honors and rewards that bring Glory to His Holy Name and great Joy to His faithful children.
