Neb. Principal Stops Pledge of Allegiance to Remind Kids of Gov’t Shutdown

Last week, Principal Pat Jones, worried that by the fact that some of his students didn’t know the federal government had been shut down, announced that his school, Alliance High School in Nebraska, would refrain from reciting the pledge as they did each morning, to remind them of the problems in Washington.

According to the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan, Jones declined to comment and referred queries to the district’s superintendent, who said he’d only heard about it after receiving unhappy calls from parents. But the superintendent defended the idea, telling KOTA News, “It is kind of sad, because when you talk to our kids, they don’t understand the shutdown at all, some maybe not even knowing it existed. So it has opened up some great communication lines and it has actually had some positive outcomes.” ...

Go ahead & nix the Pledge, I say; it was an invention of a Victorian "Baptist" Socialist xenophobe, Francis Bellamy, who was also on a crusade to get all American schools to fly the flag. This was borne of fear that all those immigrant "races" (arriving en masse by steamship) would pollute the American system, even though fools like him were already ruining it.

If a Christian makes a pledge about anything, he should only have to do it once.

So it's ironic that modern conservatives get all bothered when either of these progressive innovations are questioned.

Well, UPS, we could get into the mundane again, and I have to say the question posed in the first URL, the centralists are the actual conservatives, and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party types are the radicals.

But as I said that's the mundane.

I do strongly approve of the last part of your comment.

Would to God that voters would have enough sense to replace all the liberals (moderate and liberal same thing, have yet to see a moderate who was not a liberal. Kinda like someone saying they are an independent even though they are really liberal) on both sides with tea party candidates. The return to constitutionalism would be a breath of fresh air. Not only do I know that won't happen,my confidence is not in man, but by the grace of God and for His glory, it is in the Lord. So, even if everyone in the government was a left leaning socialist like our president I will still rejoice in my great God and His leading in my life. (Habakkuk 3:17-19)

Ah, Mike of N.Y., not everyone in Western Nebraska and especially in Eastern part of the state lives in a sod hut and is sustained by sustenance farming. Also many realize how idiotic Dixiecans are even as they found them to be buffoons to be laughed at when they were Dixiecrats.

I wasn't really sure if the first website that I put was a Democratic one or not, since it at least, had a temporary advertisement for legalizing pot, an idea that Randy and Ronny push.

Anyway, here is an opinion former aide to Baby-face Bush, and on a marginally more reputable website CNN, (I didn't see any ads to make pot legal. ) So, an excellent opinion piece, Opinion: A tea party exit would be a blessing for GOP

Now, the Dixiecans in the house, while quite lacking in intelligence, may still realize they have one of the best jobs in the world, high pay, no work, and free parking place, so they may come around, a little.

Comment number 4 is a crock, and not surprising to see on the Democrat Underground website. Another independent choice of websites, Jim?

Regarding the principal of the school not reciting the pledge to remind them of the govt shutdown, because the kids didn't know there was a govt shutdown:

Just goes to show you that life does exist without govt running everything every minute. The longer it goes on, the more people will recognize how many non essential government people there really are. Maybe more manufactured symbolic gestures will help to scare the people as necessary.
