As if tatoos themselves are not bad enough as people age and sag, but how about those who put those discs in their stretched out ear lobes, replacing them with larger and larger ones. Yikes. Also, those who shave their teeth to spikes and fangs, have various types of steel implanted under their skin, spikes and horns in their heads, tattoo their faces, etc. I just can't imagine how they will live with all of this as they age , mature, and begin to regret taking part in passing fads. Some people go so overboard that it seems to me that they don't plan on living long because they must know how bleak their futures will be while looking like that as they age.
My understanding of Scripture (2nd Commandment in particular) is that we aren't to have images or try to depict God in any shape or form. Perhaps there should be some outrage over depicting Jesus on a billboard period.
"Repackaging".....good way to describe it! I think the Evolution teaching effects Christians more then we will admit. I.e. each generation is getting bigger, stronger, smarter....better able to interpret etc. We "think" we know better then those who have gone before us.
Ok, that's taking "I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God... and My new name" (Rev 3:12) to a place it wasn't intended.
When people do things like this it's first and foremost, ignorant, but worse, they are saying, "You aren't good enough Jesus as depicted in the Bible, so we are repackaging you so you appeal to people on OUR level." Jesus doesn't need repackaging; He needs lost sinners to HEAR His word so they can turn and repent through the Holy Spirit. Just leave the Jesus pictures alone - He's been clearly seen for centuries without this kind of blasphemy.
