City Demands Residents Remove ‘God Bless America’ Signs From Their Front Yards

Residents in Bartow, Fla., have been asked (or ordered, depending on whom you speak with) to remove “God bless America” signs from their lawns.

The crack-down on private property may seem uncommon or targeted, but a city ordinance that limits the presence of signage on private property has been on the books for the past 13 years.

While residents are allowed to have temporary messages up only around certain holidays, there is an expiration date surrounding just how long billboards and posters can remain on display. ...

we gotta keep controlling each other as everyone loses their fulltime jobs, faces gov fines for not being able to pay for services designed to database the family. gotta keep those ordinances that make using one's land for food illegal while trillions go out the back door, never to return again... control is the in thing. at some point, wall street investments will make less sense to us, real estate values and all, and when we can be parked where God has put us, and consider our neighbor's misfortune, perhaps our megachurch members will take out the grass chemicals that kill everything and plant some zucchini. our paradigm is coming apart. as fukushima poisons the people and the waters, we gotta worry about a sign. what are we doing?

“I personally feel if it were on a city right-of-way, they would have a right to remove it,” resident Emmett Purvis told WTVT-TV. “But this is my yard that I’m paying the taxes on. It’s my right.”

I think issues like this make Christians look like idiots. You pay taxes on it so it isn't really YOURS - try not paying taxes and see how long it's yours! Aside from the unbiblical method of property tax, the law is on the books. If you don't like it, why stir up strife? The Bible talks about how to deal with this in Matthew 18. Go to those in charge and see about changing it. Would they be so quick if pro-abortion or Muslim Brotherhood signage started showing up? What would speak louder to the city government of your "Christian beliefs" - your willingness to acknowledge we follow the rules or circling the wagons for a fight? What if they spent as much effort and time physically helping those in need in their community as they seem to want to do fighting about a piece of cardboard? Their community might actually be blessed by God!

"For you were called to be free, brothers; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love." (Galatians 5:13)
