Congress misses deadline for averting shutdown

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress has missed the deadline for averting the first partial government shutdown in 17 years.

Nit to mention the ramoany Godlessness that seems to be fashionable and chic these days.

Nice sentiment at the WWII memorial. I'm sort of a patriotic person. I've had members of my family serve in every war since WWI. There was a democrat or 2 there as well Mike.
I went to work today and found it interesting that we were still making shipments of the best forged crankshafts made in this hemisphere!!! Even though our government was shut down, I'm sure I will still be taxed!
I don't care about the Affordable Care Act. Nor do I care about paying taxes, it goes on everywhere. When our government can't reach a compromise and refuse to talk with one another, then it's broke and needs fixing. It's both sides, not just one.
I vote for a mix of republicans, democrats and a few independents. I know there are those on here that think one is better than another, I believe they all have one thing in mind as soon as they get in office, how can I get re-elected. They are all scoundrels!!!

Don't rant, Jim. It's unbecoming. You really think they are closing parks cause there isn't money for them? How many fighter aircraft did Obama send to Egypt?

Oh, they also closed the WW2 Memorial per the Administration directive, and wouldn't let vets by the barriers. Members of Congress (those pesky Republicans again) cut the police tape and let them through. Isn't it interesting that there could be guards to keep vets from entering, but not to watch them after going in?

It's an open air memorial, Jim. What could it possibly cost to operate?

It's a dumb bunch of liars and phonies you defend.

Strange thing happened when I woke up this morning... The Fed's shut down and all is well in Southern Illinois. One major news event reported is folks will have to postpone visiting the St. Louis Arch. I wonder if St. Louis will survive the loss of tourism? Perhaps the Cards will make up for it.

But, anyway, What to Expect When You’re Expecting a Shutdown - Washington Wire - WSJ, so, while Nebraska will be hurt a little bit by this present shutdown, if the House acts really stupid, not raise the debt ceiling, well, I think Warren Buffett was being Pollyanna in estimating the common sense of Republicans, now he could be right that they will bend, but still I think he's way overestimating the common sense let alone the intelligence of the typical Dixiecan. Warren Buffett says not raising debt limit would be '**** dumb' .

Gentlemen, I've already said I think the Dixiecans would get a lot more respect if they said they pass this present funding bill if the abortion etc. provisions were removed from it. Now, that might even fly in the Senate.
