Rangel: You’re Going to Hell if You Don’t Support Food Stamps, Social Security
Democratic representative Charlie Rangel argued on Monday that Republicans can no longer take the moral and spiritual high ground due to their opposition to government benefits like Social Security and food stamps.

“Anyone who is familiar with the Bible,” Rangel said, should know that “Jesus said you’re going to Hell if you don’t treat the lesser of his brothers and sisters” with compassion. Republican believers, he explained, will be assessed by a “higher authority” for attempting to thwart government programs that help the poor: “He said he was hungry, you didn’t give him food stamps … He was thirsty, you didn’t purify the water … he said he was naked, you didn’t give him Social Security.” ...

Penny, perhaps John of U.K., can point out the U.K., has as draconian laws as the U.S. for the protection, thanks to the Muhammadans.

What's this Mr. b, a Catholic like Charles Rangel, Christ hating? by the way, Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses aren't Christian but that is beside the point, be they politician or Pope (and this politician almost got kicked out of Congress for ethics violations) needs to be reminded of several things (well also those the Scrooge McDuck Party)

1 Corinthians 6
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.---NASB

Neither Pope nor Politician can define what a Christian is, since they fall into the group that believes in, "Only Scripture," "Only Christ," "Only Grace," "Only Faith," and "To God Alone Be Glory"

John UK -- sometimes reasoning with people helps, doesn't it? the war on terror and patriot act is the evangelical baby, as much as they deny it now that a democrat has taken the reigns... and of course, they think that the persecution is just from last few years. they get mad at the democrat for carrying out powers that their own politicians gave him. and the democrats call this peace. neither side makes much sense to me. its kind of like if someone asks you, would you like this lollipop that fell in the toilet or this brownie that got stuck in the dog pile? umm... no thanks.

JohnUK, The Penny Party...ha-ha. They could be called Pennys Patriots and organize a million woman Penny march on Washington and plant blueberries and carrots in the lawn; going down in history and being forever observed as Penelope day.

Sorry, Penelope, I just had to lighen it up. I appreciate your posts, by the way. I don't understand some of them, but that might be due to the fact that I'm just not as knowledgeable as you in the areas you're so passionate about.

The government is of God and its a bad one now because of man's unrepentance, its a punishment, and those who do not bear it will be crushed by it, and it's only going to get worse as mankind waxes worse and worse.
So the government only provides for the poor widowed and handicapped ? how about the bums, drug addicts, out of wedlock baby factories and those who just refuse to work ? should the church be taking care of them to ? The bible teaches that immorality often brings poverty but mentions no aid or bail out while the truly poor through no fault of their own are close to the heart of God.

Really. Rangel is talking about higher authority? Mr. Rangel if you read that text closely I am sure that our Lord was speaking to individuals and not Rome or US Government.

It's funny to read someone from the UK lecturing us, when their country is run over with Muslim devils and tyrannical atheist while his generation stood by and conceded, rather than stand against the spirits of the age. Too funny.

.......so I'm reading this article....
Thank you, I'm sure I will.

Now the rest of your post is mighty fine. You latch onto something which you can actually accomplish.

But to prevent the guv from sending your boys (and our's) over to foreign parts merely to get blown up or disabled for life, now that cannot be done except by:

1. Voting in a different, pacifist party
2. A military coup takeover of the guv
3. Preventing the ships from sailing abroad by drilling holes in the hull
4. Blowing up the airfields to prevent the airplanes from taking off
5. Convincing young men and women not to join the forces

But to accuse the churches of doing nothing, when they cannot, nor or commanded to do anything by scripture, is surely not kosha.

[are you a former hippy?)

John UK -- enjoy your crock.

about learned, institutional helplessness...

.......so I'm reading this article in some pop culture magazine this month -- is giving the public a "new" revelation that we have gut flora that digests our food, (and Penny is very happy about this at first)

and if that flora is gone, you get disease, and antibiotics destroy gut flora because it kills off all organisms, including the good ones... (now we are getting somewhere)

... but the clincher, "but you can't do anything about it, until scientists come up with something" (excitement gone)

another article says that they had to take a pregnant woman and inject someone else's feces into her because her gut flora was ruined by bad infection. I've heard this is a problem for some radiation patients...

now I'm reading this and just rolling my eyes. extreme cases will happen sometimes but will definitely happen if you don't eat right! people worldwide still eat cultured foods that have the live cultures in it - the very cultures needed to reestablish the gut. german sauerkraut, Russ kefir

but we think we are advanced because moms won't culture their foods, buy premade meals, take lots of antibiotics and then pay for feces transplants.

Many people do not use food stamps to actually get food...they trade them for other things. It is a fact and the government is aware of all the fraud and does little abour it. So if you are for the program in its current form, you are for lying and cheating. Not sound Biblical to me.

Ah Mike, there's a historical message in there somewhere. Too deep for me. However, if you would like to give Penny some advice on how Christians are meant to prevent your guv from sending troops abroad, I'm sure she would appreciate it, as I can't think of one.

Penny, you will be pleased to know that tomorrow I shall be ordering my very first crock pot, in order to make some glorious stews and casseroles during the winter months. It is chrome coated and only 1.5L, so very economical.

Can I take it that you are not forming a militia to take on the guv, then? I thought perhaps you may be, as there is no other way of stopping it from doing things that you don't want it to do, and getting it to do things that you do want it to do.

trillions and trillions in bailouts to foreign banks, foreign investors!! and faux adventures leading to the persecution of Christians abroad ... and .. here...... and they leave us beating each other up over a few million here and there....

nice diversion from the bigger picture.

Many Christians grow food on their lands and try to share it with the poor, only to have them told they don't have permits, permission etc..

Its a false debate. Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for removing food stamps while obamacare comes in and strips what is left from families. they are setting the stage for mass food deprivation.

It wasn't enough to lose the quality of food to mass gm corn and soy production, high fructose corn syrup.

Both sides debate useless unachievable ideas while our beautiful land lies open and usable. They need to step out of the way and let the people take care of themselves... not create hindrance at every turn. What a bunch of useless hot air. at this rate, I can see this bunch trading out our lands to pay for faux debt to foreigners, not seem to want the people to claim their lands with punitive issues at the time of death of a land owner, wanting to give lands to the next generation. Let them pass it down, less on food stamps!

I never said that everyone that is in government assistance is lazy. I simply said that my ability to help those who truly need help is severely hampered by the government. There is nothing charitable or God honoring about our current system. It's the difference between giving with a cheerful heart and being robbed.

Nobody, I thank your father for his service to our country. I still value that service. Chris, I think it's a fallacy to say that all people that recieve food stamps and government help are lazy. I belong to a group in Kentucy that helps those with intellectual and developmental disablilities. They are unable to work full-time and they depend on these government food programs.

I agree there is abuse and waste in these programs, I'm not sure the people in the above population could subsist on food pantry food alone. I will even agree there is too much spending in government period. Corporate welfare, defense contractors, I'm sure we could go on and on!!! But to say all people on government assistance is lazy is not factual.

“He said he was hungry, you didn’t give him food stamps … He was thirsty, you didn’t purify the water … he said he was naked, you didn’t give him Social Security.", said Rangel.

Man, one of the things that always make me cringe is when such hypocrites quote from the Bible to make their points, and twist scripture into something irreverent; even blasphemous.
